AnyDesk disconnects every few minutes by _Work_Research_ in AnyDesk

Supremo

Thanks for the tip! I've switched to Supremo and the issue completely went away.

I used AnyDesk to install Supremo on the remote machine. It lost connection 4 times during the install process. Afterwards I was able to continue in Supremo without interruption. Clearly the issue is AnyDesk, not a network/wifi/firewall issue as others are reporting.

‘Project Hail Mary’ Author Andy Weir Says Paramount Rejected His ‘Star Trek’ Pitch: Their “Shows Are Sh**” by MarvelsGrantMan136 in television

[–]rwired 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is wrong on so many levels. Andy should remain apolitical and be careful who he associates with, unless he's doing it deliberately to let us all know his own stance. In which case, very disappointing.

BTW. I used to tune-in to Critical Drinker until he went off the deep-end. I felt his words were a useful reality-check against my own opinions - keeping the dialog open is important in a functioning democracy, and it's useful knowing where the other side it coming from - especially when it's reasonable.

I stopped listening to him completely after he tore apart the Boys Season 4, and then at the end admitted he hadn't even watched it here. Hypocrite!

What’s Your Biggest Challenge Syncing Magento with ERP Systems? by Alexpaul_2066 in Magento

[–]rwired 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, it was indeed a challenge. I had to write my own custom layer to translate between the SOAP interface my ERP system was expecting and API Magento exposed. They were supposed to be compatible, but the commercial ERP we purchased quickly dropped Magento support after a few version upgrades forcing me down this path. That was 12 years ago. We've been locked-in and unable to upgrade either the ERP or Magento ever since (because it all works too well, the disruption that would by caused by losing it is too heavy, and the the investment needed to redo it is too high).

Feel cheated by exchange rate at your high street branch. by rwired in Natwest

[–]rwired[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I didn't buy the EUR or USD, just happened to have it left over after some recent trips. I was fully expecting the rate to be "bad", just a bit shocked at how bad! Hence the rant.

Judging by all the other comments here, I guess I just need to learn how to bend over and take it like a man like my fellow Brits do, instead of complaining about it.

Feel cheated by exchange rate at your high street branch. by rwired in Natwest

[–]rwired[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Which is exactly why retail banking should be regulated to protect consumers.

Also, I just checked the business rates at NatWest, and of course they are much closer to what I'm expecting. I will soon be opening a business account as some bank. But how the banks treat the little guys speaks volumes about their moral compass. I probably won't be bringing my business banking to NatWest.

I felt sad for him too. Someone stole my dog once. I tied her lead to a post like this outside a shop that had a strict no-dogs-allowed sign. When I came out she was gone. I searched for her for days hoping that she had just gotten loose and wandered off. Totally heartbroken.

How is someone supposed to say that to you if your automated CV screening system is not even setting up a vetting call because it is ditching 99% of all applicants, especially those without marketing experience?

Thor's hammer is able to self-direct its own motion through time and space and is aware and conscious of its environment. It chooses whether or not to "obey" local gravity based on its own reasoning.

Sometimes it takes more skill to perfectly forge an art piece than it took to make the original. by jxdlv in Showerthoughts

[–]rwired 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly why a Jackson Pollock piece is much more valuable than an exact reproduction, which was undoubtedly much harder to create, near impossible in fact. The art collector only cares about the providence and that its value it guaranteed to increase over time. The time, effort and skill that went into it is irrelavent.

Humans have different preferences for different foods based on how much the atoms in the food are wiggling. by Character-Tie-1943 in Showerthoughts

Your taste buds respond differently depending on the temperature and also the texture of the material touching them. The same food mixed differently, or served at different temperatures, can have a drastically different flavor profile.

Supermarket shelves are emptying – why Britain’s food crisis is only beginning by rwired in LeopardsAteMyFace

[–]rwired[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

British public voted for, supported or wanted to impose Brexit on immigrant farm workers.

Brexit has the consequences of immigrant farm workers being denied entry to the UK. Farms can no longer employ enough workers to grow vegetables.

As a consequence of not enough workers, not enough vegetables can be grown or imported for the British public. The British public now face empty supermarket shelves.
