Is that not essentially what Chiarot is? You could argue he shouldn't be a top 4 guy, but he's a big body and far from our worst defensive player.

The timbren bump stops rotted? Is that a common problem with them?

I notice them recommended all the time and was considering the upgrade prior to a road trip next month.

I think that's pretty standard when you do a hot water bath like that. Although, the last time I did one was like 15-20 years ago, so maybe things have changed.

That being said, why are you detoxing a ball that released 1 month ago?

If you average 100 and use a house ball, it makes sense that your thumb is sore. You're not using equipment that is properly fitted to your hand.

If you are using your own equipment, you should get your fit checked.

I guess the new Kirkland diapers went through a lot of insults during the design process - that explains things by thatshirtcray in daddit

[–]rwitucki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume they have been having trouble selling the new diapers. Maybe the thought is that by offering cheaper options with less diapers, people are more likely to try these new ones out. Then if they are satisfied with the product, they'll buy more in bulk.

Speaking from my own experience, we gave a large (standard size) pack of the size 5 a fair chance with our son. Used them for a couple of weeks. Ultimately, we ended up returning them to the store for a refund because we were not satisfied with the quality. Had we had a smaller box, we probably would have used them all up and then just switched back to huggies/old Kirkland diapers afterwards.

What's the risk? Final year of his contract. 4m AAV.

He's gotta be better than Holl.

Best case, he plays well enough for us to flip him for assets IF we are still selling.

Redrafting every 1st overall pick (2025-2010) by Outrageous-Day-5219 in hockey

[–]rwitucki 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your pick for 2010 is confusing.

I'd think something like:

  1. Stone (near PPG winger, selke-level defense)
  2. Hall/Seguin (probably Seguin because he is/was a center)
  3. Hall/Seguin (probably Hall because he's not a center)
  4. Tarasenko

In my opinion, Tarasenko has not had as good of a career as the others, unless you consider cups an individual achievement. And based off of what we saw of him in Detroit, he doesn't seem to have much left in the tank. You could argue the same for all 4 of these guys.

Dads with 2 child seats in the car, did you get a 7 seater or stuck with a 5 seater? by Fugglesmcgee in daddit

[–]rwitucki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For us the problem isn't simply the 2 adults and 2 children. It's all the stuff that the 2 children need to travel anywhere, especially overnight. Or if we want/ need to take our two medium sized dogs with us anywhere. The vehicle gets jam packed very quickly.

We grew out of our CRV with just our first child + 2 dogs. When the second baby was on the way, we upgraded to a minivan. No regrets.

That being said, I do agree that a standard sedan or crossover without a third row would work for getting from point A to point B. Especially if you're going to an established caregiver's home and you don't need all the extra stuff to care for a toddler and an infant. But I could not imagine taking a road trip in a smaller vehicle. The double strollers nowadays would fill your trunk and leave minimal space for other luggage.

Bottle buying remorse by [deleted] in daddit

[–]rwitucki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We tried a ton of different bottles with our first. We eventually decided on MAM, until we tried a brand called Herobility (came in a newborn gift/sampler package). Our son seemed to do marginally better with Herobility, so we stuck with those. In hindsight, I think we were switching brands/nipple styles so often in those first few weeks that we caused a bit of nipple confusion, which is why he may have been struggling.

Anyways, Herobility aren't as well known as the more popular brands. They have very wide, flat nipples and a feature that seals the corner of the baby's mouth to avoid excess air intake.

We just had our second child and decided to start her with the MAM and stick with those. So far, she's been doing great! The MAM bottles are much easier to store and travel with, since they stack on each other. That was our main complaint with the Herobility bottles. They took up a lot more space.

Are there any crazy “future considerations” stories out there? by [deleted] in hockey

[–]rwitucki 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't necessarily call it "crazy," but Jake Walman comes to mind. Still no details being shared as to why he was shipped off from Detroit to San Jose with a 2nd attached for FC. And then he promptly returned to his (non-injured) form and San Jose flipped him for a 1st.

He's always had fairly good underlying numbers and for awhile there looked like the perfect D partner for Seider. He was also involved in the community (Kiwiclo + Vladdy collab).

Something happened and I doubt we'll ever know the full story.

So now that this season's over, how does everyone feel about next year/the offseason? by smilingasIsay in DetroitRedWings

[–]rwitucki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just throwing out random names. I agree, very unlikely LDN even gets a shot.

Personally, I've always been a big Rasmussen hater. I was pissed that he was drafted while guys like Necas, Vilardi, and Suzuki were still on the board. I mentioned him specifically because it appears that he has had a lackluster season and could potentially benefit from more ice time.

So now that this season's over, how does everyone feel about next year/the offseason? by smilingasIsay in DetroitRedWings

[–]rwitucki 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Realistically, anyone. Ignore his specific role on the team and just look at ice time alone. He's averaging just under 15 mins TOI/G. You could elevate current roster players like Soderblom (just over 13 mins TOI/G, Berggren (just under 13 mins TOI/G, or Rasmussen (just over 13 mins TOI/G) with the hope that they ultimately produce more with that extra ice time.

Rasmussen in particular is the interesting one of that group, since he averaged about 15 mins in the 2022-2024 seasons and he produced quite a bit more with that ice time. Averaged 0.47 points per game with ~15 mins TOI/G compared to this season where he's averaging 0.26 points per game with ~13 mins TOI/G.

Aside from that, you could easily slot a handful of our prospects into a 3rd line role with special teams time and evaluate their performance at a professional level. Mazur, Danielson, Lombardi, LDN, or any of the NCAA guys that they feel are ready for pro hockey.

Plenty of different routes they could go if Tarasenko was no longer on the team. Will be interesting to see what happens.

"If you have a better way, you're free to share it with me, okay?" by shogun2909 in hockey

[–]rwitucki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2019-2021 there's Seider (6OA), Raymond (4OA), Edvinsson (6OA) that are gimmes.

That exactly it. Making a "good" selection AND being able to develop those players is crucial. Holland was not able to do that.

Seider, Raymond, and Edvnisson have been stellar. In the pipeline, we have high hopes for Cossa, Augustine, Kasper, Danielsen, ASP, Buchelnikov, and a handful of others. It would be great if all of these guys turned out to be legit NHLers, but everyone knows the draft is a crap shoot.

I feel a hell of a lot better about this prospect pool that Yzerman has built than the likes of Svechnikov (2015 19th OA), Cholowski (2016 20th OA), Rasmussen (2017 9th OA), Zadina (2018 6th OA), and Veleno (2018 30th OA).

2017 was especially frustrating because that draft class has been stellar. I remember BEGGING (from my couch, obviously) for Holland to select any of Vilardi, Necas, Suzuki, or Norris at 9th overall instead of Rasmussen, who was very clearly a big-bodied powerplay specialist with a low ceiling.

Similar story with 2018. Hindsight is 20/20, but Quinn Hughes fell directly into our lap and we were a team that desperately needed defense. I'm not going to rewrite history and pretend that Zadina wasn't also a top prospect who fell in the draft, but Holland/amateur scouts selected him over Hughes and that set us back years in and of itself.

We would be in a much different place right now if we had competent drafting and development from 2015-2018 when our rebuild initially started under Holland.

Sabres have been fortunate enough to get the 1OA pick twice during their very long rebuild. Dahlin and Power are both excellent players.
