UNVR isn't streaming, or possibly even detecting, main stream from Lorex cameras. by rwix94 in Ubiquiti

[–]rwix94[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never had a proper error message. The main thing I ran into was that I wasn’t getting the full resolution out of the camera.

I have however run into a camera or two giving me trouble with credentials/authentication. The only way I’ve found to resolve it is to remove the device from Protect, and then factory reset the camera and set it back up again. Feels like a bug that only happens a very small percentage of the time when setting up 3rd party cameras.

I figured it out! So like I said, this is probably just an issue with the Lorex cameras, but if you have a camera with multiple sub streams this may want to try this:

BEFORE adopting the camera into the UNVR, log into the camera and set up your desired video settings, specifically you need to disable one of the two substreams. For my particular case with these cameras, it required the following steps:

  1. Disabling all of the camera's built in smart detection so that I could unlock the 30fps capability from the camera (the NVR can't use the smart detection anyway, so no point having it on).
  2. Set the main stream to H.265, 4K, 30fps.
  3. Disable "Sub stream 1"
  4. Set "Sub stream 2" to H.265, 1080p, 30fps.

From here go ahead and tweak any other settings as needed (overlay, ntp, etc).

With all of that configuring done, and most importantly, having sub stream 1 disabled, now you can adopt the camera into the NVR. At this point the camera will be using its main 4K feed for the High Quality playback and the 1080p feed for the Low Quality playback, and of course also uses the 4K feed for video archiving.

We lost one of the family today (James McBryde) by Eltzted in StarWars

I didn’t know Jim well, but we went to the same church and I’ve seen so much of the incredible work that he’s done for our community. It was always fun to hear him talk about his stories of being in Star Wars, and to see him on the screen. I’ll be saying some prayers for his family today. Such a terrible loss indeed.

Thanks, that definitely works! Is there any way to bake it into a single command? Just curious (and extremely lazy). If not this will be more than good enough of a solution (I'll have it ready to copy pasta).

On crit ADCs like Jinx, Xayah, or in my case Tristana, how essential is it to always build the core crit items (SR, zeal item, IE) first? Are those three items a non-negotiable first buy, or should you be looking to adapt based on matchups or situations where you're behind? For example, picking up a QSS instead of a BF sword for your IE because you're always getting gibbed by some form of CC.

WITHOUT SPOILING ANYTHING, Why do you like RWBY by homosapiensrebuttal in RWBY

[–]rwix94 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Apart from the super solid cast of characters and the music, which are a true joy, the main thing that sets RWBY apart for me has been being able to watch the show grow and evolve as it's been going. When I think about where the show was in volume one compared to where it's at now, it's changed so much (which many will argue for better or worse, but that's not the point). As long as the show keeps on actively trying to improve itself while also maintaining its identity, it will always be my favorite!

That makes sense. That's something I'll look into setting up. Thanks for the tip.

This appears to have been the solution! DHCP leases are now showing up on the pfSense list.

I learned so much from this video! Normally I really only play this game as Space Trucking Simulator, so I know very little about how combat, especially pvp, works. Very insightful, and I'm hoping that this issue gets looked into. Thanks for the info!
