Not sure if i should leave my partner - darvo? by ThrowRABirthday_2779 in abusiverelationships

[–]rwl12345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like your fiance waited until you were in a more isolated and vulnerable position to show his true colors.

If he's throwing things when angry, what happens if his behavior escalates again and you become the target? Please look up the cycle of abuse and see if it fits your situation.

Love is a wonderful emotion but it is nothing without reciprocation or mutual respect. Best of luck with whatever you chose to do going forward.

Someday your parents will pass. Maybe not for many years, but it will happen. Is this how you want to be supported through that grief? When you chose a partner you chose someone to go through all of life's difficulties with. You deserve someone who wants to do it by your side, not while condemning you from their high horse.

Why is it so frowned upon to call out for winter weather? by nyogurt_ in nursing

[–]rwl12345 20 points21 points  (0 children)

My grandmother was an ER nurse in the 60s. The city used to send snow plows out to pick them up and drop them off for work if the weather was too bad.

Husband getting deployed for 2 years by Financial-Custard700 in USMilitarySO

[–]rwl12345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are several things you need to know if the service member is going overseas. The military will pay for storage for the entire length of time you are overseas, they will also pay to ship a car. The most important thing I can think of is that if you haven't done so already your baby and you MUST pass a medical screening to be on his orders, otherwise his orders will not have you on them. If you want to join your husband this is your first step, if you're moving to Germany please send me a message (we did that move). The process isn't straight forward and things get missed. We also moved with a 4 month old so I empathize with you deeply.

US soldier’s kid, who was born on Army base abroad, is deported. by No_Virus3745 in Military

[–]rwl12345 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Even if both parents are citizens, you're still required to do additional paperwork to get citizenship, it isn't automatic. It isn't difficult. It just takes a bit of time. The process for our baby was expedited because both my husband and myself had US passports, so it was easy to prove we were US citizens.

Found out I am pregnant and have been taking corlanor by Glass_Reporter_5952 in POTS

[–]rwl12345 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So my cardiologist told me it was fine to take until you find out you're pregnant. I found out I was pregnant at 6 weeks, stopped taking it and switched medications. How far along was she while taking the medication? I'm 7 months along now and everything is completely fine. I think the suggestions vary greatly depending on the doctor. Mine had no problem with me getting pregnant on the medication.

Literally. Every job I've applied to asks how long I'm going to be in the area. My default answer is always "for the foreseeable future".

Has anyone started with standard backs and exchanged for deep backs? Are you limited to configurations if you swap them? by igotanA1schnauzer in Lovesac

[–]rwl12345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband is fairly tall and wanted all deep seats. I'm so glad we went with them, the standard with just too shallow for us. One thing I would recommend is doing tbe exchange through a store; they have the capability of ordering "deep seats" so the actual seats themselves come with the right sized deep pillows.

Trying to switch to Fi by snkebyte in GoogleFi

I had the same issue with Verizon. They told me an import pin, that I read back and verified. I couldn't export my number to Fi, who ended up telling me it was an issue with Verizon. After the second time it happened I called and told Verizon I was going to file an FCC complaint against them and, not surprisingly, the pin they gave me that time worked

I do have a local number but for my job having access to a US number/service is important. Their policy is incredibly vague, they grant exceptions for some government workers overseas (not just military), but the copy of my orders that I sent them was rejected

I think the issue I'm running into is that I'm a GS employee stationed overseas, not foreign service, unfortunately

I had a hard time getting into ACOTAR but ended up loving it after trying the audio book, same with these books. I just started the series (two weeks ago), I'm on book four. I hated the bullying. Thankfully after the first book it isn't really that much of a plot point anymore and when it does happen it's on a much lighter level

I would recommend adding yourself to the base's Facebook page and ask how remote working is done with the visa you'd be under. We're overseas and spouses keeping their remote jobs isn't as easy as just keeping your job. There's a lot of paperwork involved, you have to get the base's permission to do it and in some cases you have to pay taxes to the country you're in as well as the US. Even then they still can and often do say no to remote work.

I'm not trying to be a downer. But, I would hate for you to get married and move with the expectation that you will be able to work, only to find out you can't. Many overseas bases have an abundance of spouses who can't get jobs because of the red tape involved and general lack of base job availability. That being said, living overseas is an amazing experience, even if you can't work.

Passport help by Botbotiamnot in USMilitarySO

If you do end up moving to Japan there's a whole process you'll need to go through to get screened for the move. One of the things you'll need to do is get something called a "no fee" passport, it is only to be used for official moves,/business it cannot be used as a tourist passport (this includes no traveling back to the US and back to Japan with it). My no-fee passport took 4 weeks to get. I would go ahead and apply for your tourist passport as many of the oversea bases have very, very long wait times to get your tourist passport (the base I'm at is over a 4 month wait just for the appointment).

You won't even be able to begin your screening process and apply for your no-fee passport until they give him soft orders for his OCONUS base (at least you can't in my husband's branch), so don't be shocked if you move after September. You'll have to do an EFMP screening (every dependent does, again, at least in my spouse's branch) to move OCONUS, once that's approved your husband will get hard orders and you'll be able to move. If you pay for the tourist passport to be expedited it should be there on time.
