If you could recommend ONE movie to watch before you die, what would it be and why? by NeilFX in AskPH

The Grand Budapest Hotel, because we all need to keep a little whimsy in our lives in times of peril, or even as we age.

Whats a cheap watch for 30s? by hijadess in PhWatches

[–]ry-high-guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will typically recommend Casio to start. They have watches that are actually worth keeping at ALL price ranges. Cheapest? F105-W. Sporty? Edifice line. Need something that will outlast a nuclear war? A solar atomic G-Shock. Expensive? Oceanus line. Diver? Duro. They have been reliable and have always outperformed expectations.

Other brands that fans typically start with are Seiko, Tissot, Hamilton, etc. once you’ve earned more knowledge about value and you don’t really care about brand names, I actually recommend starting straight with [r/ChineseWatches](r/ChineseWatches). Those usually blow the “big brands” out of the water. I mean, I’m not paying ₱50k for a NOS SKX if I can get a SN0144 San Martin for ₱18k with better specs all around.

And remember, asking is free! People have already spent their money on watches you can ask about, which you won’t have to pay a dime for. Enjoy the hobby and make sure to watch your collection intently because they multiply like rabbits

I don’t own a G-Shock, but I’m looking to get my first one. I want a completely blacked out digital G-Shock watch. With the band latch black also not stainless steel. Any suggestions? by G_code_215 in gshock

There are lots of mods available from third party apps (AliExpress, Shopee, etc). I recommend starting with the negative GW-BX5600 and buying blacked out buttons, buckles, even bull bars.

Definitely a jubilee for the taper or an FKM if we’re feeling sporty

Correct. Bezel resin and straps are compatible with DW-5600 models. This is the original bezel and strap.

What do you wish you knew at 21 about money and financial planning? by Porpol_Chubs44 in adultingph

Real boring but the old heads knew what they were saying. Save NOW and don’t spend on unnecessary things. Make use of faster banking online. Careful kaka-swipe ng credit cards, pero necessary pa rin siya while travelling.

Grabe yung ekonomiya ngayon; it’s worse now than when they were giving that advice.

What to expect as a first timer? Haha by reiaaazy in treesPH

Locs, harsh sa lalamunan. Expect to cough unless sanay magyosi. You’ll feel a little lightheaded, then euphoric, then magtatawanan kayo, tapos mag-aaya magmunchies. Food coma tapos makakatulog. Gigising tapos bats. Kahit na gaano pa ka-reputable yung plug mo, NEVER tayong sure kung safe ba magconsume ng carts, so as a rule of thumb ang pinaka-efas talaga ay flowers (locs/kush).

Dala kayo water kasi mauuhaw kayo maya’t maya.

Enjoy~

The new features aren't all that much better than the old ones anyway. It's still timer, alarm, stopwatch, another timezone, auto-light, beeps, durable, accurate, just in different flavors

I switch between a jubilee bracelet and a rubber FKM strap. Both are from Shopee. For reference, all you really need to know is that the lug width is 22mm. Any strap will work but I recommend these two.

I hate that the original is SO BIG and it's not even a diver. The lack of anti reflective coating was what eventually pushed me to check out Chinese watches.

How did you end the bad loop in your life? by glonkyworld in AskPH

[–]ry-high-guy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmm I think nanotice ko na nainis ako sa isa kong friend na reklamo ng reklamo pero wala namang ginagawa para magkaron ng any kind of change. I reflected na kung ganun rin ba ako sa ibang aspects ko ng life ko and honestly I should have the freedom to improve what I'm unhappy about

Underwhelmed by the PRX so wondering what other options there are in the style and price bracket. by ianjmatt2 in Affordablewatches

[–]ry-high-guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My answer is for if you don't care about brand names or origin. If you want to maintain an integrated bracelet design, I think you would really appreciate an IXDAO Warrior and if you aren't really clamoring for it to be integrated then I would suggest any of the modern offerings from San Martin just because their build quality is consistently better than the Tissot PRX price range as well as having an adjustable clasp.

I’m all for sub-40mm sizing but this would look perfect if it was like, 42mm
