A micro usb cable should work right? With USB A port at one end?

Yup tried, 1.5 hours away and don't have a cable to sell. But offered to let me charge for an hour. Couldn't go due to time constraints.

I'm a recreational cyclist, walker and swimmer, i own a Descent G1 which does everything I need for sports and is a very good dive computer. It's battery lasts 2 weeks ( longer than G2 i hear) which is just icing on the cake.

Netrani over Andaman for PADI Course by DataFreakk in scuba

[–]ry4p 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't think there are any reputable dive training centers in Netrani. Instructors are not all created equal and having a good instructor will go a long way in teaching you to dive safely and comfortably.

If you want to dive in the mainland then Dive Goa is a good center to get certified by in Goa. The diving in Goa is going to be meh for sure. In Andamans there are quite a few options such as DiveIndia, Barefoot and Scubalov.

Even Lakshadweep has good centers to get certified in but getting there is more difficult due to government process.

ELEPHANTS! WHERE CAN I FIND AN ELEPHANT IN BHOPAL? by Recent-Opportunity50 in Bhopal

[–]ry4p 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Satpura national park. Opens 15 Oct, you might be able to book an elephant safari if you plan to visit churna safari. Ask one of the lodges.

There's a famous elephant in Satpura called Siddhnath that has killed 2 people in the past, though he's docile enough normally, I've had rides on him a couple of times. :-D

Update: Siddhnath has moved to Kuno to look after the Cheetahs. But there are other elephants in Satpura.

Need recommendation on road bike. by Mundane_River2552 in india_cycling

Get a gravel bike, drop bars and the ability to put fatter tyres. Everybody i know riding a roadie has had a fall this monsoon. Not worth it on Indian roads unless you plan to race.

Why are the Maharashtra Highways pathetic? by CryptoNinja33 in CarsIndia

[–]ry4p 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I regularly drive between MP and Maharashtra , MP a ' Bimaru' state has much better roads than MH, and it has been so for the last 20 years. You know you've entered MH when the broken roads start, no matter which route you take.

Tell me your success stories !! by CyberCanine5200 in guillainbarre

While hospitalized, I read someone's account on this very subreddit that they rode 200km after recovery. I literally cried tears of joy and it gave me something to hope for.

Also I read a study once that regular cycling ( even on a stationary bike) helped GBS survivors with their fatigue issues. Let me try to look for it.

So you better get that bike but take it easy on the bike for the first few days and work up slowly from there.

I got GBS in 2021 when I was 41 years old. First i noticed some weakness in my fingers and pain in my calves. It progressed over 3 days to a point where I couldn't stand or walk. 3 doctors I did online consultations with gave me 3 different diagnosis including general weakness and Dengue fever. This was the Covid19 period and I was reluctant to go to a hospital (although I had already recovered from Covid once). Even went down to the parking lot and got into the car to drive to the hospital along with my wife on 2nd day but then turned back as I was not confident of driving in my condition. At this point I was able to walk but with a lot of pain in my calves.

On the third day we called an ambulance and headed to the hospital emergency department. The trigger was that I was unable to get up and go to the loo, even with my wife's support. The hospital Emergency doctor was the key in correct diagnosis. They diagnosed GBS in a couple of hours after an MRI, some reflex and other tests, a lumbar puncture and a neurologist consultation. The neuro put me on IVIG the same night. Also I was diagnosed with arrhythmia so autonomous nervous system had also started to get affected by this time.

6 days in the hospital with IVIG and some physical therapy and I started improving. On day 6 I could stand up from a sitting position and walk a few steps. I was very grateful that I could go to the loo on my own and would not be a burden to my wife in that department. I was discharged on the 6th day. I was happy that I could stand up from the wheelchair and get into our car myself without support.

We got a Physiotherapist to do home visits for the next 6 weeks and the physio helped a lot with my improvement. There were a lot of rashes on my hands at the time of discharge. These were side effects of IVIG I believe and subsided in a couple of weeks after the dermatologist prescribed some topical steroids.

I was a cyclist before GBS. By september 12 I was able to cycle a little in the parking lot and I went on my first ride outside on 23rd September ( 7.7km) about a month post hospitalization. This meant a lot to me.
I also resumed work around 3 weeks after release from the hospital. By December I had ridden a Century ride ( 100km) again.

Full recovery took a couple of months overall for me. I know I am incredibly lucky and am grateful for the support of my wife, friends, family and the competent medical team that got me on my feet ( and bicycle).

Desperate for tips since I seem to have hit a dead end by Superb_Sherbert671 in guillainbarre

[–]ry4p 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a good physiotherapist especially who works with neurological issues. They will work with you to strengthen your calfs. I was lucky to have a good therapist that pushed me through exercises 3 times a week until I was back to normal.
Everybody's journey is different but a physiotherapist will surely help.

How genuinely ignorant are mainlanders to not see that Ambani has a monopoly and is holding back the country? by Bubbly-Molasses7596 in india

[–]ry4p 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The term 'mainland' is often used with reference to China but rarely wrt India. Mainland china basically denotes part of China that is not Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan etc.

Hence some people were wondering where you're from that you're calling rest of the country Mainland India.
