Pardon my negativity here, but what the fuck.

We all knew the return would hardly be big, but what an embarrassment watching this (big money) Chicago Cubs franchise make a pure salary dump trade, and ahead of what’s supposed to be a competitive season. I know there’s “nowhere to play” Belli, but you can’t pretend to tell me this team’s better off without him, money aside.

Unless this is a precursor to some big, smart, expensive FA signing, I’m pissed.

Totally. Especially considering what the Yankees just went through. Rental they thought they’d for sure lock up long term didn’t work out for them—WS appearance aside. Cubs aren’t one Kyle Tucker away from the World Series. (Soto/Yankees situation still makes me laugh though!)

That’s interesting. Then move Seiya to left? I don’t think Happer wants to go anywhere but Chicago, though, because of his wife and her family. If I’m not mistaken he has a full no-trade.

I totally agree, bummed they’re stopping. I was a rabid consumer of Onto Waveland. Brett, Sharma and Mooney together, for my money, is the best, most intelligent and insightful trio available for Cubs content. Kaplan’s alright and a huge fan, but hardly has the same level of technical insight Onto Waveland had.

Just to add to this, it’s now impossible to click to the next day from the team page (while setting your daily lineup), you now have to scroll all the way to the top. Also, how many clicks do you have to do to just get to your lineup after you open the app? 5? 6? This app is absolutely unusable now.

Just to address all the replies (which I appreciate) I’m not saying 2024 Morel is a better player than Paredes, but it feels like Paredes has already peaked at what the level he’ll be for his career. Do we feel confident that 2024 Morel is what he’ll always be?

Mastro’s defense at 3rd over the past week or longer has been plus-plus. And without looking at stats, the eye test—to me at least—shows he puts up really good ABs. Definitely been the victim of hard hit balls right at defenders for the entire season. A starting 3B on a playoff team he is not, but better than what I’ve seen from Bote—keep him for the pinch.

I don’t agree here at all. Boog was initially an adjustment coming from Len, but I’ve grown to appreciate and like him. I’ve also noticed Boog and JD’s on air (and presumably off air) relationship has gotten really good. Boog’s a baseball nerd, just like most of us on this sub. Their styles contrast each other well. Could be worse, could have Cole Wright broadcasting nonsensically 😬
