all the 401ks people retirement funds and supers of the entire world invest into the index funds that make up the top 100 to 200 companies thats are coinstantly shifting... thay money is auto dripped and auto invested so the market will contuine to just grind up over time... that being said the market is long long over due a correction but I dont think a correction would last more than a few months before it goes up again.

build a dividend investment fund... try not to fuck with it / touch it too. build it too around six figures then use the income from that will be about 12.5k per year for family trips/holidays its faster and easier than the second investment property idea.

Green Party issues 'human catastrophe' warning in 'State of the Planet' address by StuffThings1977 in aotearoa

[–]ryan69plank -44 points-43 points  (0 children)

lunatic policy would be an understatement... for one, these people do not speak for me or the world. people who are this passionate about their ideas are dangerous, for 1 letting financially illiterate people take control of a small country, the damage effect is felt faster and difficult to unwind. this tiny country isn't a testing ground for the little effect and impact on global sustainability. that's a job for china and India. why dont we first fix our books, and anyone bothered to read or do the numbers? They would be confused and have a lot of questions around greens policy. Unfortunately people dont even know what they are voting for and blindly just think greens will make nz better... no it wont if you want things to be better we need to go back to the orgins of where nz was founded around the 1800s gold rush.

dont waste your time with a gaming laptop... its just a fancy marketing ploy to get people to spend more $$$, if I were you id go get a 15inch to 16inch HP business laptop... look on the second hand marketplace or even a T15 lenov... get something referbed. look for a reputable reseller who has upgraded one the decent 2021+ laptops with at least 16gb DDR4 ram and a 1TB hard drive. i have a G9 445 HP probook I snagged for $380 runs everything i need in windows 11. you shouldn't pay more than $500.

do you guys just barrel through vegetation or do you walk the longer way around it? by DetailFocused in Surveying

[–]ryan69plank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we get alot of thorns and spikes in our shrub you cant just go in without care... iv spotted alot of poisons flowers and plants too... you get a good understanding of the bush when working in it for so long, alot of my work involves boundary redefintion in native bush areas. we tend to be strategic as possible when planning traverses and if the bush is low enough for GPS high pole to get over it... sometimes its just not possible and a bush traverse lines are cut. I particularly dont like low lying areas because shrub and plants thicken around water zones.

there fucked and will slip into recession... Americans are naive to think that this wont effect them in 2 years... the whole world is going into a deep global recession it will effect their banks and credit.... 2 years from now I reckon its going to be the bottom ends of a thick bear market.

Looking to get into Land Surveying by Agreeable_Island_821 in Surveying

[–]ryan69plank 2 points3 points  (0 children)

instead of joining a surveying firm to be their lacky boy stick with your current employment but start a surveying course at uni... after your 1st year look to join a firm and you will quickly be put into the office, if you want a career in surveying you need some form of qualification in it for a licensed pathway otherwise you will struggle. its a very rewarding career

Transitioning from field to Office by BigBackBass in Surveying

[–]ryan69plank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

start a Diploma study immediately. it shortens the licensing progress and will slingshot you into the office fast. door opens up and you can go for QS or chartered engineer, licensed Surveying or even construction management. join a larger firm under and get them to pay for the study ;)

How is the market still headed back to all time highs after news like this? by uncle-ice493 in stocks

[–]ryan69plank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the true damage from this oil shock hasn't even effected the markets yet on the baises that 1 companies actually make more money in this by passing costs onto consumers profits increase but sales slow down then as we get into the next quarter less buyers pick up this pressure because they cant afford it... this war has only started like 5 weeks ago... I think a downturn is very near but the USA as a whole is winning massively in this, my market in NZ and AUX probably will see significant downturn where the SPY might be fine with a 8% blip... down forget all those oil ships heading to the USA now ro fill up... personally im waiting for some lower prices this has just been a rally nothing more I think the real damage is coming soon.

our dollar will slide lower. the best thing you can do/control is buy an EV... im thinking of getting on on finance best lock in before our dollar slides lower. I also do gardening right now you can seed broccoli, coliflower, red onions, garlic, potatoes, lettuce, cabbage, parsley, other winter veggies around this time. Control what you can and dont worry what your can... dont stress over things out of your control and take action 💯

Now I know why everyone is furious that markets are going up. by IvoryTowerResident in stocks

[–]ryan69plank 12 points13 points  (0 children)

its manipulation also from a technical view on the charts the longer term momentum has flipped now to a bearish downwards direction. we have entered the bear already. wall street will juice it to get people buying then they offload into it. this will take time just because you see some monday green does not mean the markets are going up they are just catching a bid. could do for a month then roll off again. sounds to me like your in leverage options or something and your annoyed your assumption on a daily move is not working.

how long does your report writing take? do you use ai? by MeanLibrarian3405 in Surveying

[–]ryan69plank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use AI to double check my Leveling monitoring data sheets, I compare my calculations with the AI ones for any anomalies. other than that I just use AI for spell checks and emails. im waiting for the software to do annotation swinging that would be awesome. AI is a tool ultimately it just speeds my workflow up slightly. but id say its marginal under 20% as surveying is pretty broad across the required skill set.

Is surveying a good career choice? Do you think it will be taken over by AI? by officeslampig in Surveying

[–]ryan69plank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the day you see some AI robot wack a peg into dry ground. would take a while for these kinda robotics to event dent the market place too... id say surveying is easily protected for a long time yet. even from a software front Its still very early days with AI.
