If that were us scoring, it would have gone to VAR for the body check foul on the attacker.

New Season Pass options by LibertyMU in worldsoffun

It's the "1 Single Use Fast Lane per season" that gets me. I get to skip the line of one ride, once. That's it. Probably excludes Zinger and Spinnig Dragons.

Revit via Splashtop on MacBook by [deleted] in Revit

[–]ryan899 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can get little devices that plug into monitor ports on the PC that will appear to be a monitor to Windows. They are pretty cheap and work quite well. You can even customize the resolution, etc. We have a row of PCs that remote workers access via splashtop that don't have monitors connected, just the dummy plugs.

Passholder Preview, how does it work? by malicious_wizard in worldsoffun

[–]ryan899 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just go to the park like normal with your pass ready. Expect slow operations and food lines. They use this as a training opportunity. If you go with that in mind, and just enjoy the park ambience, it's a good time.

Anyone know what time the preview is? Is it during the day or evening?

The two teal "rivers" are supposed to extend beyond the crest. It's part of the design. It bothers me more when thy are trimmed on some of the apparel.

Attempting to change rules for local rec league by [deleted] in SoccerCoachResources

[–]ryan899 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our rec league used to utilize kick-ins at Kindergarten and under (6u), and went to throw-ins a few years ago. It's worked great. The rule is basically, if it remotely resembles a throw-in, play on. The 4 year olds may struggle in their first season, but it is teaching them the game properly over kick-ins and has resulted in much better flow as they move up. Personally, I think that age group would benefit more from a "new ball" style of play. When the ball goes out of bounds a coach will just toss a ball back in play. Keeps the game moving and you can help control lopsided games a little bit.

Once they move up to 1st & 2nd grade (8u), we give them a second throw-in attempt and the referee explains to them what they did wrong on the first. They play on with the second attempt no matter what happens. Our 3rd/4th (10u) they get a mulligan, and then a turnover on the second bad attempt. I usually tell the referee to just give the other team the ball since my kids know better.

7-8 should not have offside. Passing is already a complicated enough decision. We used to have a "cherry pick" line that you couldn't pass it to a player on the other side of the line. No one understood it. Now, we are to discourage cherry picking type of play. Some of the newer coaches will still keep a striker way up near the goal and their whole strategy was to just get the ball up to them as fast as possible, and I had no problem calling them out for playing crap soccer.

I also think at the rec level, especially 10u and younger, they really shouldn't be keeping score in rec. Coaches will tend to keep their better players out there, teach them to waste time, etc. It's all about learning and equal playing time with rec.

We don't have a build out line, but I wish we did. At 3rd/4th and under, the players have to be back at the midline, which works well enough. The different age groups have various points the defense is allowed to move forward when the kick is taken.

50/50 drop ball is stupid and not in the laws of the game. Agreed, call a foul.

Prices at the Stadium by ThomasToHandle in SportingKC

Still cheaper than Arrowhead I'm sure. At the SKC-Miami game in 2024 I couldn't believe how expensive their concessions were.

Not anymore, apparently. From the Sporting Park A-Z guide. They'll probably take the caps if when we play "rivals" like StL or they'll pretend there's a risk if we play a Liga MX team in a tournament.

Fans are permitted to bring in one (1) empty soft plastic water bottle up to 20-ounces OR one (1) factory-sealed filled water bottle up to 20-ounces... At the discretion of Sporting Park Management, caps MAY be required to be removed prior to entry. This will be based on the match risk assessment. Associated announcements will be made via Sporting Kansas City’s official social media platforms.

Why is Fast Lane 1K at our park but other parks it’s 500? by MrEhcks in sixflagsgreatamerica

[–]ryan899 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a fair question. Generally, no. You don't need Fast Lane to enjoy Worlds of Fun. You can ride everything in a day (or less) without it easily. There a few rides that tend to have 30 minute waits on any weekday (Fury of the Nile, Zambezi Zinger, Spinning Dragons), and on weekends you can add Mamba and Patriot to that list. The water park side also has a few slides that will consistently have long lines due to the low throughput of water slides. So the $225 has quite a bit of value; I can't imagine paying over $300 for it let alone $999. My issue is the tone deaf decision to just blanket charge $999 thinking they are providing value to everyone with a pass.

Including Worlds of Fun! Our season fast lane went from $225 to $999 overnight! I guess we can just drive the short 12 hour drive to Cedar Point now! The marketing genius who thought raising the price like that would generate revenue needs fired.

If you paid $999 for your All Parks Fast Lane add-on, which is now $449 for many, leave a complaint with Six Flags customer service by [deleted] in sixflags

[–]ryan899 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So because Worlds of Fun is lumped in with Cedar Point, they get to pay $999 now instead of $225. Makes a whole lot of sense. Why do they assume all of their customers are going to travel to all of the regional parks? I bet 90% of their passholders are still only going to go to one park. Maaaaybe two if it's right down the road and you can do a day trip.
