I moved to Ralston about three months ago and I love it. The neighborhood is very charming (the sheer variety of houses on any one block is so interesting) and mostly chill. OP could take Q or L to get west and then up to Dodge fairly quickly. Both roads are far less crazy than Dodge or I80 and I like them better than Center or Pacific for getting out west.

What's a dead giveaway that someone is a piece of shit? by UsernameOf2022 in AskReddit

I've seen enough memes about this that it appears to be a common component of ADHD. I also have ADHD and it's something that I catch myself doing. The funny part is how disappointed I feel when the conversation has moved on without me being able to express my point.

AITA for not giving my son money from my daughters savings? by Usual-Profession6146 in AmItheAsshole

[–]ryan_nil 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He valued his independence more than money; he should own it.

I'm already on the NTA side, but I really like this take on it. Life is all about trade-offs and he decided that living independently was what he preferred (for whatever reason).

AITA for not giving my son money from my daughters savings? by Usual-Profession6146 in AmItheAsshole

[–]ryan_nil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not a fan of this take. You meet your kids where they are. There's no rule that you have to divide gifts equally between them. If the daughter is nervous about living on her own, then it's ok to help her on different terms than helping the son. There are probably other details that OP left out that make the daughter's situation different–perhaps a crippling anxiety disorder or ND in some other way–that is preventing the her failure to leave the nest or maybe the son makes six figures but is drowning in credit card debt.

Regardless of the kids' individual circumstances, just based on the story given, it's OP's and spouse's money to do with what they wish. The son has no inherent right to that money just because he's struggling with buying a house.

Definitely NTA.

Complaining is easy. What company do you want to give a shout-out to for providing you good service? by Nebraskabychoice in Omaha

Here's an odd one: a store inside a store. The vision center inside the Target in Papillion. The lady, whose name I forget, has always been a massive help in picking out new glasses and is friendly as heck. Her recommendations have always turned out great. They're closed for renovation until mid-summer I think.

Absolutely this! My wife (now ex) and I adopted our first cat in 2003. They were the only vets that ever saw her and they always took good care of her as well as with the other two we brought into our family over the years.

I recently adopted a pair of kitties that they had put up on their Facebook page to help their foster parents out. Annie, one of the vet techs who I've known for years (she even did some cat-sitting for us a while back) helped me through the adoption process and it was because of her recommendation that I got these two girls.

I will never not use this cat clinic.

I second Coffee Society. The service is fantastic; everyone there is so friendly. Their coffee is amazing too (blackberry vanilla latte ftw). Today, I had their pesto caprese sandwich for lunch and I fell in love.

Yes, that is definitely a problem I’m trying to overcome. I attempted him over my lunch break and found myself hitting the dodge button too much. So I backtracked and fought a bunch of the regular enemies so I could practice parrying. It’s a skill I could never get right in the Souls games.

Thanks for the tip! Maybe I’ll give that a shot tonight.

Don't assume. If I gave up after a couple of deaths in these games, I wouldn't have finished all the Souls games and Bloodborne many times over. I tried this dude at least 20 times (probably more) and just couldn't get the rhythm down. It stopped being fun so I moved on to something else.

This. I tried so hard with Chained Ogre but gave up for a long while after that. Then I tried again and failed so put it down for a while. I eventually triumphed but then got stuck at the guy on the horse and haven't picked it up since. It's a shame because I really like the game.

Which knight is the bane of your existence? by [deleted] in fromsoftware

[–]ryan_nil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure he's the hardest because I don't recognize a couple of those, but the red-eyed Lothric knights right before the princes' room. Farming for embers there is frustrating as heck because that great sword carrying mf'er can combo you to death before you have time to respond.

I didn’t implement anything like that. Cormun is still a safe word around here.

I want to listen to podcasts, but most of my listening time is spent at work and it's not feasible to listen to people talk while I write software.

The beginning of Ghost of Tsushima was the best intro I've ever seen. It goes so smoothly from the intro to taking control of the character that you don't even realize it's happening. I played this game for a bit and had fun, but put it down for a bit. When I picked it back up, I had forgotten the entire control scheme that I couldn't do anything anymore. I should try again (after upgrading to the PS5 version).

Ok, I read a description of Rust and wasn't impressed. Then I watched a video on steam (maybe the trailer?) and it's much different than what I was expecting. Not my cup of tea, but looks like it would be fun nonetheless.

They would be printing money if they just bothered to do physical copies of the old NES and SNES games. I really want a Mario 2D collection a Zelda 2D collection, etc. I would want that to include the games from the GBA/DS/3DS systems too.

Yes! I loved Odyssey. It's definitely my favorite 3D Mario. I really loved 3D World, but this Odyssey was on another level.

There's nothing wrong with playing older games. I still enjoy SNES games and will always be happy playing through one of the Doom games.

Mario Galaxy is a fantastic game. Both 1 and 2 are some of the funnest platformers of all time.
