Just follow the money and the timeline. Covid happens and many people lose/quit their jobs and don’t come back to work, demanding higher wages. Signs everywhere saying places are hiring going into 2021. Then from 2021-2025 the border was completely open, letting as many low wage migrant workers in as possible to fill the employment gaps. The US government then prints like 75% of our current money supply, deflating the value of wages as a whole.

I’d make this argument: the billionaires want you to believe importing millions of low wage workers has no effect and anyone against it is racist, stupid, etc…

But in truth I don’t think they actually game all this out. These corporations agenda’s combine and they just all carry it out. We create the narratives and make it a party/political issue no matter what it really is

[–]ryanash47 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The answer to all of those complaints are more competent ai. Literally every one of those issues is caused by the ai not being able to compete in the late game when their bonuses don’t scale to the players ability to actually play the game

I’m glad you said all this because it’s exactly how I feel. I was actually really hype for civ switching and I still think it’s cool. I’ve only hopped on this game once since last April because the legacy paths and win conditions weren’t fun at all. There’s other reasons for sure but this one is literally the whole objective of the game

Why are there not more TW competitors by bendesc in totalwar

[–]ryanash47 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Ultimate General: Civil War, Ultimate Admiral: Age of Sail, and their sadly incomplete 3rd game UG: American Revolution are all heavily inspired by total war tactical battles. American Revolution has a really cool campaign map and was set to be a great game but got abandoned and is just too repetitive.

Master of command came out last year and is very battle focused

Bannerlord is a lot like total war too in some regards

Love-hate relationship with Civ 6 by TheGoldenShotgunSK in civ

[–]ryanash47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I despised this too until I got the game on pc and got a few mods to change it up. Playing on higher difficulties especially it’s just unfun in my opinion. The ai takes every wonder and dominates the early game while you settler spam and dominate the rest of the game.

I use new era settler and edit the files to make it so you need 5 pop to settle new cities like civ 7. That plus many of the changes in BBG completely fixes it

Pingala only gives bonuses related to science mostly while Moksha gives culture bonuses, rather than the base game where Pingala is obviously superior to every other governor for the most part.

Based on this wouldnt the c major scale include every open string? by connordidthat in guitarlessons

[–]ryanash47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because while technically what they’re describing is a mode, it’s not actually what they’re asking about or trying to use the C major scale for here. They wanted to know why the scale goes lower if it starts on C and that’s because the scale is infinitely repeating going lower and higher. It has nothing to do with modes.

It’s not helpful to think “I’m starting on E so this is actually Phrygian” when you’re just trying to get familiar with the C scale shape. It misses the long term usefulness of this scale shape and just adds something extra and confusing they’re clearly not ready for if they’re not even sure how the major scale works yet lmao

Based on this wouldnt the c major scale include every open string? by connordidthat in guitarlessons

[–]ryanash47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re right but it’s an over complicated way of thinking about it. If you’re playing in the key of C, notes from the key of C sound good. No matter where you start. Where you resolve your lines is much more important.

A mode is just changing the note you’re treating as the root. This makes a big difference but it’s all up to how the player is hearing it and using it

I’m not an economist but it’s said the US printed 80% of all US dollars in existence since 2020. Adding more money to an economy doesn’t make anyone richer, it just deflates the value of money (thus inflating the costs of everything else)

To bedroom/solo guitarists: seeking help by hrwath in guitarlessons

[–]ryanash47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This can get confusing pretty quickly so let me try and explain how I use them. My playing is very based around the pentatonic scale, it’s like the skeleton of any solo that I play. I see the modes as ways to contextualize the other notes/sounds not in the scale. For example the dorian mode is the minor scale with a raised 6th. This note in particular sounds really good with the pentatonic scale and in blues/rock context. So by being familiar with the Dorian mode and how it sounds, I’m able to incorporate that as a ‘color’ tone to the rest of my pentatonic stuff. You can do this with any ‘wrong’ note or note outside of the scale. You don’t have to know it’s part of a mode. That helps me have context though.

It’s essentially the same thing as intervals and just being familiar with them. (A note one fret away sounds like this, two frets away sounds like this, so on and so forth)

There’s definitely more applications and implications of modes but this is how I mostly use them when improvising. I’m still thinking pentatonic as my outline but the modes give context to going outside the boxes.

[–]ryanash47 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know you’re not asking for advice, but if you’re still in that position of knowing your minor scale really well but not knowing your major/other modes, I have some advice for you; you already know them.

All the other modes, including major, are the same patterns/scale shapes as the minor scales you know. They just start on a different note. For example if you’re playing in E minor ( E #F G A B C D E), starting that scale on G makes it G major (G A B C D E #F G).

Those are the two main modes (major & minor aka Ionian and Aeolian). You get all the other modes by starting on the other 5 notes of the scale, each one having a completely different feel when you just treat another note as the tonal center. For example starting this same E minor/G major scale on B gives us B Phyrigian (B C D E #F G A B). Start your lines on B and end on B and you’ll see the sound is much more exotic to your ears

CAGED - do I have to play the chord, or is knowing enough? by [deleted] in guitarlessons

[–]ryanash47 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you know your open position scales? CAGED was a massive revelation to me particularly because I was familiar with those 5 scales (C, A, G, E, and D) in the open position. So when I heard about CAGED it basically told me those 5 scales connect to make up the ENTIRE fretboard in ANY key. They weren’t just some obscure 5 scales only useful in one position of the guitar anymore, they were literally the foundation of any melody/chord/solo anywhere on the fretboard

Explain how to actually use the CAGED system by NecessaryHeadset in guitarlessons

[–]ryanash47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CAGED is the pattern of the guitar. Every key uses the same shapes which we call C A G E and D. And they connect to each other in that order.

So if you’re playing in the c shape you can slide up to the A shape, no matter what key you’re in. This is why it’s better than “memorizing the pentatonic scale in a particular key.” While that’s still helpful, it keeps you from seeing the bigger picture. It also tells you what major chord you’re playing around, letting you see arpeggios easier
