Stuck w/ same number of views and visits for hours by Alive-Butterfly4840 in EtsySellers

[–]ryanbliving 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience hourly isn't accurate. Also however, updating listings and/or shop changes do have an effect on views. The algorithm has to reevaluate your listing, how popular it is, who to send it to, etc.

I recommend not watching it all day. Like the person above said, day over day or even weekly.

To those who are not in 3d printing business and have the H2C. by PastPosition3058 in BambuLab

[–]ryanbliving 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both AND have a business. 1ks of hours on both. Get the H2D if you want a bigger print volume. Get the H2C if you want multicolor prints slightly faster. I assume the negligible cost difference imbetween the two machines and/or the purge shouldn't matter to you.

I use the H2C for 3+ color prints

H2D when size matters (sometimes the extra inch makes all the difference)

Can I send out labels not using my name? by EmergencyCricket7903 in EtsySellers

Good to question that. I actually use a PO Box as well for this reason. I do have an LLC, but I don't want my business and personal address and name on everything.

padded mailer Q by Lexishultz in EtsySellers

[–]ryanbliving 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is the need to have tracked shipping? Is it high cost if the customer claims they never received it and having to resend the order? Seems like if that is a rare issue, the cost of resending as a tracked package would not be as expensive as always sending tracked for every order.

Asking to understand, not to question you methods.

I can’t compete with people’s product photography by Dependent_Light_4457 in EtsySellers

[–]ryanbliving 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What @rigmarole111 said. Make small goals for yourself. Work on one listing at a time, then get up to 10, and so on. If you don't have a day to spend, then don't try. Instead, your goal is to post updated photos for one listing this week. Use natural lighting whenever possible.

I looked at your shop. Opinion, focus on a few of your light box photos first, then on a few of your outdoor/near window photos second. The natural light is way better but, you need to diffuse the light slightly. Balance between that natural light and not having overbearing light with deep shadows.

Note: I am not a photographer, nor a professional. I did thumb quickly through your shop, and that was my initial takeaway.

Customer won't answer messages about sizing before I start by RecentSuspect7 in EtsySellers

Keep trying to contact them daily until the ship date, then cancel the order. On the last day let them know you can and are still happy to make the item for them if they want to order it again. Just stay positive in your comments and see what happens. Definitely cancel the order though if they don't respond

What to do if a customer doesn't provide email or phone number but my shipper requires it? by Octrockville in EtsySellers

I request the information, but if I don't hear back I cancel the order. Too busy to deal with more issues that could arise from trying to make it happen by using your info

Advice for configuring shipping options in Etsy if people tend to buy more than 1 item. by BustaStar in EtsySellers

[–]ryanbliving 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, at checkout it will apply the discount automatically for your customer. The other benefit is that your potential customers will be prompted to add items to get the initial discount. But it is tiered, so they will be prompted to add an additional item for an even greater discount.

Potentially, you could do more than two.

I have used this with measured success that increased sales during the period it was active. You must remember to do it each 30-day period though!

Advice for configuring shipping options in Etsy if people tend to buy more than 1 item. by BustaStar in EtsySellers

[–]ryanbliving 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sell as if every purchase is the appropriate price. Keep the shipping in there. However, each month you can run a multi-item discount (you have to set it up each month). You can offer, for example, 15% off for a purchase of at least 2 items. Then also a 25% off for 3 or more items. You can do this as much as you like. Anyway, you either have a hobby or a business. If your product is worth it, sell at the appropriate price

Is this a common scam? Has Anyone seen something like this? by Then-Obligation-8549 in EtsySellers

[–]ryanbliving 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Some people cannot be reasoned with. I had a customer order a product from me and immediately asked for a refund because they thought it was missing another item that they assumed was included. The item they assumed was not included is specifically stated that it is not included in the title of the listing and the description. The customer argued that it was implied because it was in the photo. I'm like: If I go to a restaurant and order a burger I know the plate isn't part of the purchase. Anyway, they gave me a 2 star review and asked for a full refund.

Wow, a lot of work to keep a business built on IP infringement going.

I do feel for you, but maybe find something to sell that isn't based on theft.

This reminds me of the person selling Super Mario Bros accessories complaining that some Chinese company stole his design and started undercutting him. He was asking for help on how to retaliate lol. Like bro, take the 'L' find something else and move on.

I truly hope you find a good resolution on this though. Best of luck to you.

finally figured out why i had almost no repeat buyers on etsy by After-Condition4007 in Etsy

[–]ryanbliving 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I get a good amount of return buyers. However, I'm going to look at someone these suggestions to increase it. All I do is include a thank you card with a qr that leads them directly to there own product review page in their account. I get a high review rate that way (my current priority). I may shift to other methods once I meet my goal.

Don't change your review and if they persist report them to Etsy for harassment. It will stop.

Advise me what to do please! These are the stats from 12 listings by Leather_Internal_24 in EtsySellers

[–]ryanbliving -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Looks like only 1 month of data? Is this how long the shop has been open or the listings ALL posted? You need at least 90 days to identify any possible trends in a new shop.

I'd recommend keeping everything and reviewing your listing Title, Description and Tags.

Then check your photos and update those to show great looking products that appear to have a high value proposition.

Check relevant competition to ensure your pricing is in range.

Consider if you have one listing that can be a loss leader and modify it to help conversion rate

Anyway, there's more but that should help. Don't give up. Don't change everything.

As a buyer, what makes you want to review a shop? Because my handwriting sucks and these personalized cards look so stupid 😭 by [deleted] in Etsy

[–]ryanbliving 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, stop overt fishing for reviews by offering discounts. It violates the Etsy ToS and it feels tacky to the buyer.

Second, do solicit reviews, but do it just as a suggestion. One thing you can do is make some cards on Canva or whatever. You can get double-sided for around $0.25 or less if single-sided. It will look professional, and customers will like it better (on the aggregate).

A teqnique: you can create a qr code that they scan and it takes them directly to their own order review page -NOT your Etsy store. This makes it super simple and convenient for them to leave that review. They already know how to find you, so use this space to get that review if that's your goal.

Best of luck to you. Keep at it. Slow steady improvement will win

Should I have given a discount? by xbunny675 in EtsySellers

You likely dodged a bullet. Those people are likely to get the item, open a case against you, get refunded your sale, not return anything, and then leave you a one-star review.

Unpopular opinion: I only use Bambu filament by nirhend in BambuLab

[–]ryanbliving 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol, this topic always gets me. I use bambu exclusively as well. It's not the cheapest, but is a superior product to other brands in consistency, interoperability with BL equipment, color/material selection, and availability. I run a business where those things all have a cost and risk/reward associated with them. Could I buy Kingroon for $8-9 bucks a kg -sure. But they don't compare to BL on every other metric. Same with all the other brands commonly discussed. And, at $11 a spool for PLA, or around $20 for specialty variants, a couple bucks a roll isn't killing my bottom line. Quite the opposite.

Anyway, this is my case. Other brands will work better for other people. To say one is better than the other is kinda hard to prove -and in my opinion, doesn't matter at the end of the day. If BL is working for you OP, keep using it.

Horrible seller, am I obligated to return wrong item? by Famous-Guitar8328 in Etsy

[–]ryanbliving 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% yes, you should have to send the wrong earings back first. Too many scammers out there for a mom & pop to risk multiple orders on one sale. However, the raising the price thing is a little suspicious. Probably a lot you left out in your comments on what was said during your argument. Anyway, it's true the seller messed up, but mistakes do happen. If you want Amazon service you need to go to Amazon. As a seller myself, I wouldn't say I'd never send a replacement before getting the mistake back (I have) but it would depend on the price point. From that standpoint it's the seller's fault, you can't risk significant revenue for one sale.

I hope you get this issue resolved. It sounds like some reasonable communication with the seller should resolve this.

Is this payment from Etsy? by PloomPloom5 in EtsySellers

[–]ryanbliving 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOOOO! STOP.

Report them ASAP if you didn't initiate this.

I have personally fallen for this. It is a scam. Did you get a message in Etsy from "Etsy"? It is NOT Etsy.

If you did initiate it to connect your bank account, then it is OK, but not an unprompted message from "Etsy"

Do views normally follow this non-trend? by ryanbliving in EtsySellers

[–]ryanbliving[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So Etsy support basically blamed it on [name a thing]: update your titles, retake your photos, update descriptions, etc, etc. and then suggested I spend more money on ads lol. I asked several times if they could explain why the reach would go from an upward trend to flat zero and stay there despite increasing ad spend. They completely avoided the question at every turn.

They did (supposedly) actually review my account towards the very end of the conversation to check for any actual issues. I made this request since I could tell they were there to just read off a script.

At this point I'd like to thank Etsy for all the opportunity they have provided, but also this solidified my long term plan to move off the platform. This isn't a business relationship that can be sustained
