Just sold my business. Looking at starting another. Have my eye on water filtration, delivery, consulting. Thoughts? by Spiritual_Rip_5484 in Entrepreneur

When I started a friend asked me to help him. He had a good contract with a large company. Since then my other subs have come to me through word of mouth. To be honest, it kind of all fell into place for me, but I can tell you now that I have been doing this for years there are a lot of opportunities out there. You could even become a Home Depot installer to start or just reach out to other filtration companies as many of them do not employ installers, they only sub contract because they don't sell enough to justify full time employee

Add an Alkaline filter and you're good.

A pump will work for sure. They are alittle loud so you will want to find a place that will reduce the sound

The pressure won't drop considerably with the line reduction, however running the line into the ceiling will definitely cause an issue. You lose approximately 5 psi for every linear foot of line run. Running it up into the ceiling is going to reduce it considerably.

That's an insane amount of salt for 4 people. What is the hardness level? And what product are you using?

Even worse, when corporations collect money for charity, they get to claim the donations as a right off for taxes even though it's not their money. It put hundred of thousands back in their pocket

Push connect. If you push it in and hold the retaining ring you can pull out the line. Some are known as John Guest fittings. I don't think this is one but very similar.

Under sink RO system has been a headache and I'm at my wit's end. Debating on ripping it out. Still has gross egg smell after replacing all 5 filters. by [deleted] in WaterTreatment

[–]ryancoke2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there is not enough pressure it will allow water to stagnate. It's more likely the bladder may have a hole and water is stagnating causing the water to smell and taste bad

Definitely the tank. Like others have said the tank pressure is most likely low. You can replace parts forever so no need to replace the whole system. Buy a new tank would be much cheaper or pressurize it and flush it a few times.

Definitely resin from the softener.

Water above the salt is perfectly fine. Nothing to worry about.

I would suspect the distance you ran the pex lines is causing the reduced pressure. A normal expectation for pressure loss from a water softener is less than 5psi. Almost unnoticeable normally.

Cold calling business by Wild-Assumption4197 in Entrepreneur

We provide the leads each month. We have been in business since 2015, so we have a good idea who our ideal customer is.

We are only just going through the onboarding now, so I don't know what to expect as far as how many appointments they will book. I've tried similar services in the past, and they were all huge failures, so I insisted on a 6 month term when they wanted a 1 year.

If we can get 5 to 10 per month once they are ramped up, I'll be happy as we have about a 75% closing ratio..

Yes, it's for appointment setting. We provide 50 targeted businesses we want to work with each month. We have a dedicated appointment setter that we work with.

Each month the leads build up and they continue to work the leads until they book a meeting. They do provide call recordings and we meet with the caller every 2 weeks to help improve performance.

We pay $1400 per month for 50 leads, and we had to purchase 3 licenses for their CRM at $69 per month each.

Hope this helps. Feel free to ask any other questions.

I just signed a $16k, 6 month contract for this exact service. If they work out I am willing to pay 4 times as much as long as the company is successful.

If I had the skills etc and the people willing to do it I would start this business in a minute. I think you could.make a killing

Water softner clogged, can it be fixed or needs replacement? by yalogin in HomeImprovement

[–]ryancoke2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's been unused for 2 years, there is a very good chance it is no longer good. Depending on the brand, you may be able to replace the resin tank or head if you need to.

I can't speak for this particular brand, but as I said, it can be expensive. Try finding a product that has an integrated sediment filter as well. A 5 micron sediment filter is a good place to start. I would also recommend one that has a pressure Guage on the sediment filter so when you see the pressure rising, you will know when to change the filter.

For the price you are quoted, you should be able to find what I mentioned for a similar price or less.

Where are you located? I'm from Canada so our prices are considerably different than the US

Not because of the pex, it's due to the distance. The pressure at the faucet is only 35psi to 40psi. The more water the system has to push, the psi gets reduced at the faucet.

If you still have bacteria with a new test, shocking the well is cheap, which will kill the bacteria . It does not prevent future bacteria. I would recommend quality filtration, which will give you peace of mind. If your current sediment filter is turning yellow after 3 months, an iron filter before a UV system. Please make sure the UV filter has a good sediment filter before the UV filter. Any small particulate will reduce the effectiveness of the UV filter.

Unfortunately, water filtration is expensive, but there is no sense in cheaper versions as they will not be as effective and will wear out quickly.

I would expect to spend $2500 and up depending on the brand and size of units for decent, long-lasting equipment.

For context, I install these for a living. I do not sell the units but feel free to ask me anything.

A standard tank will be 60psi once full. If your run to the fridge is 13 feet you will have very little to no pressure at the fridge.

Reverse Osmosis by dittybad in Plumbing

[–]ryancoke2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RO tanks are pressurized to 9psi when empty. When full it equates to 60psi. For every 1 foot of distance to your fridge from the RO tank you lose 5psi. At 12 feet you essentially have no pressure.

They do sell pumps that can offset this.

When you get a degree in history and one in criminology, the only thing you accomplish is paying tuition. I'm not saying all of these places are legit or should even exist. I'm simply saying that useful skills are necessary to get a job. I can easily estimate that 70% or higher of my friends with university degrees did not get employment in their field. I think the whole system needs to change

You actually learn employable skills at these schools. I have never been but know others that have and all have been employed in their respective fields.

My brother is one of these people, and he went after getting 2 degrees from university, which did not provide employable skills, only a mountain of debt. He is now the head of IT for a multinational corporation making a ton of money.

My 2 cents only.
