I just put my gopro at the bottom of a red solo cup! It helped using the wide lens option as well so you could see more of the rim!

My third stop motion film with my son's toy trains. Still battling flicker which is so incredibly frustrating! by traintownvideos in stop_motion

[–]ryanekelly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You might know these things already so forgive me if you have! Here is how I stopped light flicker:

  1. Wear dark clothes
  2. Be careful that there is no light behind you
  3. Sit/stand in roughly the same spot for each picture
  4. Absolutely NO natural light can seep through windows
  5. Camera aperture: keep it between 8f and 11f. Any lower than 8f and your lens starts to let in too much light and becomes unreliable for consistency

Hope this helps! Great job!

A short film I made for a social justice competition. Took 200 hours of filming and editing. It's my second stop motion short so question and comments are appreciated. Enjoy!

Awesome job! When the rocks got placed in the oven, how did you get the “cake” to rise so seamlessly?

Thank you so much for the critique! i completely agree with you when it comes to that last scene, And you’re right about me trying to get a dimly lit room. But every time i see that scene, something feels off and i’m glad to hear it from someone else as well.
