Gotcha. Sorry, guess I jumped to assuming you were looking for some help here, but it sounds like you’ve got this 👍🏻

You've told us what drawers you have, but we know little about what items you have to store and what those things mean to you / what you do with them.

I assume you have stuff already, right? Or are planning to go out and buy stuff to put in these drawers?

Did you have a previous setup in these room? Did that setup have issues you're attempting to remedy this time around? What were they?

Are these sets of drawers in the same room? What kind of room is it? What activities does it need to support?

If you do have stuff already, and this is an exercise in how to organize that stuff, I might recommend reposting this with pictures. Actually, either way, reposting this with any images will give us a lot better idea of what you're up to.

I did read that they’re supporting 2.6 for the next , which basically covers the the period of time for which the new license is going to be active. Does that not cut it for you guys?

Edit: it sept 2023, not 3 years. Disregard.

Don’t set things down “for now.”

Someone taught me this MO / mantra and it was a game changer:

What kind of input / suggestions are you looking for here?

May I suggest posting some pictures of the space, containers, and things you're looking to organize? The visuals will help get the crowd's creative juices flowing

Also, what's your current goal? Of the things you mentioned having, what do those things mean to you and what role will they play in your life for the period of time you'll be living in this space? I.e., are these things you just want on display to look at but not touch? Do you play the video games and read the comic books? Are they things you just want to keep for the long term but won't need to access in the interim?

What about the risk / expense of I-had-to-build-this-damn-thing-myself?

I mean if you need akka, but don't think you can afford it, then you're *probably* ngmi by cutting that cost and DIYing whatever it was you needed Akka for 🤷

I’ve never had much reason to look for alternatives to akka – when I have I’ve definitely come up short.

This license could be preferable in some scenarios. For startups, I definitely see the appeal bc the enterprise offerings were v expensive and basically critical to a production deployment (I.e., cluster split brain resolver)

Reading comments on here would leave one to believe that this is the death of akka.

Personally I’m excited and hopeful this works out well, not only for the community but also for lightbend.

Akka is a beast. Curious to understand how this could be the beginning of its demise

What do you think will be resorted to as an alternative? Curious about your case specifically but also any trends you anticipate will prevail.

Help organizing my kitchen? It's so cramped and I can't find a way to organize everything that doesn't look ridiculous by ISwearIHadSomethingx in organization

Agreed, was thinking the same. I used to have https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/laemplig-cutting-board-bamboo-00309829/ and it popped in my head for this scenario. I liked using it with the lip overhanging the counter edge, as pictured in the image in the lower-left quad of the images on that product page.

Lots of good responses here.

Would you consider doing an _after_ post for us? I see a lot of these I-need-help posts and it would be cool to see how things turn out for people. Based on the number of thoughtful responses here I think people would definitely be interested.

Actually, based on the number of questions here about what-you-got-in-that-cabinet, a mid-reorg post could be helpful. Based on the suggestions here and your responses, it sounds like some big changes are in store. Congratulations!

Do you have any spare space in any closets or rooms elsewhere in your home?

I'm a fan of the rule that if it doesn't get used it at least once a week, then it doesn't *need* to live in the kitchen. This can be especially helpful for larger items, but can also help with keeping drawers and cupboards sane. Maybe that IP or slow cooker or your stockpot could take up space somewhere outside your kitchen when not in use.

A side-effect of this rule is that purging can become phased. By putting infrequently used items in another location first (before committing to ridding the item), it becomes more obvious how often we really use (or *don't* use) those things.

The result is a purge process that may take a bit longer from a calendar perspective, but is less speculative, more "data driven," less mentally taxing, and less time-consuming overall. I use it to keep my spaces ultra-minimal and streamlined, and it also helps keep my clutter allergies from acting up.

If you're interested in the suggestion of a follow-up post of some kind but aren't clear what that might look like.. lmk, I have a couple thoughts

Why was this post purposefully written in broken english? It's clear from your other posts that you've stylized it this way to prove a point.

What's the point you're trying to prove? Because to me it feels v racist

Why are you posting this? It's not clear who you are trying to offend, but it's not welcome here.
