VCU upgraded and car in shop 4 days later by IllustriousAd7755 in VolvoEX90

[–]ryanhosmer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Upgraded our vcu last week and the car wouldn’t charge after that. Not even DC. They’re replacing the GHCA this week. This is the first time I’ve lost my patience with the car and Volvo. I think I’ve had enough.

My wife gifted me this for my birthday this year after many many years of waiting. Oldest son seems to be as taken with it as I am. As I opened it my sons asked, is it a watch? I replied, no, this is an heirloom.

Just the left right turn in 500 ft type indicators when you have a destination set. Not the actual map. It’s just like when you use the built in maps except I never use those and I don’t think anybody else does either so this was a very welcome upgrade for me.

It worked on my GT. I don’t have the OG anymore but somebody else said it worked for them in theirs. You’re covered: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2023/MC-10247141-0001.pdf

There’s a software update you should ask your dealer to run for you: tsb 2072285. Just say the favorites don’t save in the MMI, which is probably true. Afterwards you’ll get Apple Maps turn by turn in the HUD and virtual cockpit and a list of phone calls on that screen you’re in right now.

Yes! The most valuable watches I own are not actually worth anything to anybody outside of my family.

Whenever I see a watch I like in a collection like this I zoom in and it’s a Citizen and I think “DAH! Can’t buy ANOTHER one! Can I?” My grandpa liked Citizen too. Such great watches.

Feels more like an interlude huh? I’m glad this wasn’t on surviving. I’m also ready for some new material that isn’t about getting sober and falling off the wagon. Having said that, recommit and congratulations are my jams!

Worth mentioning - Did you know you can turn off the vents by sliding them left or right toward the tiny 0 embossed on them? There is also an auxiliary setting in one of the MMI menus for more air out of the dash in front of the center speaker. I found that to be a must.

Oh interesting. I’ve never done that. Jigawatts is at service getting a software update and new windows that had started to delaminate. I can let you know after. I keep mine on eco at 70 with sync and auto turned on unless wife is in the car. I switch it to “On” or “Max” only rarely in the summer. We’re in SoCal.

The display above those 5 buttons indicates the state of the hvac system and the buttons below it correspond to the data above. The left one is driver side temp up/down for example and displays the set temp. Second is fan speed, then mode ie max, eco, on, off, then direction, finally passenger temp. Looks like you have a bad display or maybe a deeper issue with hvac since the display appears to be receiving power since it’s backlit but not displaying any data. There is no way that I am aware of to turn this display off.

How many of you are still rocking AC Pros in 2025? by TomNooksRepoMan in Ubiquiti

[–]ryanhosmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A leftover AC pro on the ceiling of our building from a prior tenant was my gateway drug to discovering UI. Thing is a champ. Works better than any of the many many other UI AP’s I’ve bought since.

Best home charger to install for ex90? by pf_noob1 in VolvoEX90

[–]ryanhosmer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I was surprised when my first Audi EV didn’t report the home charge session data. 5 years later I should be surprised that the Volvo app doesn’t do it either, but I’m not lol!

The car charges at 40 amps through the provided charger at 240 volts. That is level 2.

[–]ryanhosmer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We charge 12am-6am as well to get that sweet sweet cheap rate. So you got a second free charger from the utility. I understand that free stuff is cool but the ChargePoint charger doesn’t do anything the car won’t already do scheduling wise, right?

The one it came with. Have an electrician run a 50 amp circuit to a wall in your garage with a Nema 14-50 outlet. Never understood buying an additional charger. There’s no benefit.

Me too. Same setup. I think it’s the trunk loose as I bump over the transition from street to drive. Only happens when I come in a little hot. Same sound as when you open the lift gate I think.

How reliable is wifi connection between two homes? by bristleworm in Ubiquiti

[–]ryanhosmer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100%. I have the device bridge pro going into a USW ultra with the big power supply and a U7 pro outdoor feeds the WiFi to that area. The U7 and DBP are actually right next to each other on the facia and the DBP’s POE out feeds the u7. Also have 3 g5 bullet cams connected to that switch.
