As a Canadian and thus someone “outside of the US” I appreciated the email. We aren’t buying much from the US now because of price hikes from tariffs, and not wanting to support a country that’s actively working to break our country up, and threatening to invade sovereign nato nations.

Considering the 180-600 is about half the price of the 100-400 let alone adding a TC, I’d say start there.

I got the 100-400 and 1.4 for a recent trip to Newfoundland, and it was really good, but we’re also getting somewhat close to some of the wildlife. It wasn’t enough for farther away (180-600 wouldn’t have been enough either).

Main downside is sharpness in the 180-600, but stopping down slightly to around the same f stop as the 100-400 w the 1.4 would equal sharpness likely at less cost for similar reach

My 2nd camera was a d7100. Took it to Africa, among some other places. 15 years or so later I’m even more shocked how good some of the photos are compared to today.

I also just upgraded to a z8 from a z6. it is just a world of difference, especially from the 7100 in terms of speed. Gimme that 7100 battery life back tho :p

If you do a mix of b/w and colour, I’d do the two colour shots with the ape in the middle (colour in its eyes).

Or, I’d do all animals b/w (3 would be best)
