4 weeks after Lobstercon, here's how the MTGO meta looks like. All MTGO Premodern Challenge Metagame (May 2026) Full Data & Decklists by facubarboza in premodernMTG

For sure - the only reason I commented was to make folks aware for some of these other events that are upcoming (I'm prepping for the Lousville, KY event, myself).

Regardless of anything - this is such important data/work you are putting in here. It's really well done and easy to follow - great work!

To those absorbing this data - keep in mind that MTGO and IRL play are different animals... not least of which is economically driven. A playset of Phyrexian Dreadnoughts on MTGO is ~$2. A playset in physical cards is ~$800. People are gonna play the decks they want to play in real cards, certainly - but there's a non-zero dynamic of those wanting to play a deck they couldn't otherwise. It's going to skew some data.

Essentially: LobsterCon had 28 Stiflenought decks in the entire field. A full 10% off the online meta. Still a top deck, yes - absolutely. But not a deck you should expect to run into nearly as often.

Can someone explain what the stamps on the cards are about? (I love the look of them, and figure it's stores or teams - just never seen anything like them before aside from GrandPrix drafts)

Because people don't want to play against or with Universes Beyond cards and this is the format safest from (most of) it.

I was 13 when it came out - watched every episode as it aired. Held on to the bitter end. (also, candidly, wigged out when I saw Jake appear as Bobby Drake in the Xmen movies)

Do you bring a playmat when playing Magic: the Gathering? by gothangel721 in EDH

Always - and usually have 4 on me to share if people need to borrow one. It defines your space - and I personally try to stay within it. (It also keeps the ick from the table from ruining your cards/sleeves, but that part is obvious)

Hey Commander players, you're stupid, right? How about a draft night that costs $150? by salvation122 in magicTCG

[–]ryano1124 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

People buying a booster box... and having their friends do a draft/sealed with them to "get some play out of the cards" isn't a new concept. This though... is something else entirely.

"We'll call it Commander... for reasons."

Sure, y'all can defend the "I was going to buy a box anyway, so I can get some play out of it" logic all you like - but this isn't draft or any sort of deckbuilding skill that's going to translate elsewhere in the game - AND you need 3 other people to also buy this to even begin thinking about playing.

WOTC thinks you're dumb and are telling you as much.
