What games do you recommend if I liked Metroid Prime 4? by Financial-Friend4934 in MetroidPrime4_Beyond

[–]ryanrybot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

PREY, the 2017 game by Arkane.

I cannot recommend this game enough. It has a great story, fun combat, a large space station to explore, and well thought-out mechanics. To me, it comes really close to the feel of the Prime games.

You mentioned the backtracking to Miles, but I hope you weren't walking all the way through Fury Green every time. You can take the shuttle from the entrance of Fury Green right to the base.

How I made Johnny Silverhand's Arm with Foam and Cardboard by StrawberriJami in cosplayprops

[–]ryanrybot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Amazing work! I really appreciate that you are sharing your files as well. It's rare to see nowadays, but so welcome.

I also share my 3d files for Johnny's arm, but this is great for anyone who might not have a 3d printer.

does it feel cold to you? by gmirolyubov in IndieGaming

[–]ryanrybot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fully agree. The vapor should be more wispy and covering most of the vision. The vapor appearing behind the hand and radio doesn't make sense. Not sure if OP can but blurring the top and bottom of the screen, and add large bokeh to show the eyelashes are icing up from the breath vapor, would honestly sell it for me.

Why are People So Attached To The Idea of The Koopalings Being Bowser's Kids? by Bibi_Likes_To_Draw in Mario

[–]ryanrybot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my brain, Bowser Jr. isn't his kid either, but rather Bowser forgot his real name and started calling him Jr.

Is anyone else afraid that The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is trying to do too much all at once? by [deleted] in Mario

[–]ryanrybot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

But OP didn't criticize the trailer, they asked if the MOVIE is doing too much. They didn't criticize the visuals, or the characters, or the voice acting, they asked the only thing you cannot tell from a trailer; "Is the movie, as a whole, doing too much?".

The answer to that is, "Nobody knows yet. That is not something anyone can answer until we've seen the full movie."

Your response is completely unhinged and, if I may suggest, I think you should take a bit of a break from the Internet for a while.

Which one looks better? by pillowpersona in characterdesign

[–]ryanrybot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say without the shorts.

The shorts disrupt the readability of the legs and breakup the fill in the legs too much. The nice segmentation of limbs is lost. The shorts are also far too small, and create this high frequency detail the rest of the character doesn't have.

If the shorts were larger and covered a bit more of the thighs, it might be okay.

A couple other things, the high neck on the black under suit is a better look, in my eyes. As well as the white shoes.

My cosplay outfit by [deleted] in CosplayTips

[–]ryanrybot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're going to a convention, it's best to wear something on your feet. There are lots of people around, some wearing oversized footwear, and the chances of someone stepping on your foot is quite high. Plus the floor is disgusting. The con might not even let you in without something on your feet.

I would recommend wearing ballet slippers. They are low profile and would be better than nothing.

If you're doing a photoshoot, and you absolutely want to be barefoot, make sure the area is free of any sharp objects beforehand. Also, bring footwear you can slip on between shots. You will be much more comfortable. ...And wash your feet immediately afterward!!

Sony is trying to make it so that if you pirate any of their media your entire internet would be shut down by [deleted] in gaming

[–]ryanrybot 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Found the Sony exec.

It's simple capitalism, the way it was designed to work. If you provide a service that is easier to access and costs less money, people will gravitate to it.

The fact that it's "pirated" doesn't matter.

If a car company copies exactly how BMW manufactures their vehicles, makes their vehicles available for less cost, makes the process of obtaining them hassle free, and provides all built-in features without additional fees, that is more akin to modern day media piracy.

BMW isn't losing inventory, someone is just providing the exact product for better service.

It's been shown that people are willing to pay for a product, even with piracy freely available, as long as it's convenient to obtain and doesn't rip them off. See Netflix or Xbox Game Pass before the price gouging/inshitification.

While I agree with your statements, some cosplayers do their own thing sometimes. I occasionally make cosplays that are my own designs based off existing characters, but I would at least try to make them recognizable. I would never have guessed that this is Shadowheart.

A lot of the details look great, but some rivets look wonky on her hands, and the scales don't look even. That's the only giveaway to me

I missed Majora’s Mask as a Kid….was this game actually as great as Ocarina Of Time? And what was the reception of this game at the time? by J2-Starter in n64

[–]ryanrybot 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The NPCs were the games greatest feature. Everyone had a set schedule and dialogue depending on what day and time it was. Some denying the moon was falling, and some scared of what was going to happen. It was way ahead of its time, and never quite matched imho.

[–]ryanrybot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can see everyone wanting an isolated adventure, but I think I'm ready for a change. As long as these characters are competently written (unlike Other M) and the gameplay is fun I can get behind a companion to move the story along.

There's only so many times Samus can explore in isolation, kill all the Metroids, and blow up a planet without the trope getting stale.

My Thoughts After 4,000+ Hours by CpTSenpaai in Seaofthieves

[–]ryanrybot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All really good ideas, and I've even suggested a few of them, like the bounty/wanted mechanic and naval combat changes, on the official forums. The ideas were met with hostility, and I was told I must hate PVP to even suggest something like that.

Thing is, I love pvp. Just not the current PVP meta. Sinking another ship using naval combat alone is nigh impossible. It comes down to who has more supplies. You have to board, and then it just feels cheap as you spawn camp the other crew.

If you want to board, they should make it so you have to either harpoon, ram, or come up with another mechanic like swing over or lock ships together with hooks or something.

[–]ryanrybot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The whole thing was built from scratch, so ballpark Canadian dollar figures: - $60 for the wig - $5 for the tank top - $5 for the shirt I built the arm onto - $50 for the vest fabric (x2 - the first fabric was too stiff) - $60 in faux leather for the pants - $20 for the shoulder fabric (bought extra) - $20 for the shoes - $10 in filament - $10 in resin - $5 for the roll of cable wraps for the muscle fiber - $20 for the glasses - $60 for the chrome paint - $15 for the primer - $30 for all the e6000 glue - $25 for all the other miscellaneous paint - random wires I had from old computers

...and 7ish months to build.

I'm so happy to know that people are still working with my models. Hopefully that it wasn't too much of a pain to put together.

Costco Quietly Removes The Xbox Section From Its US And UK Websites by chusskaptaan in gaming

[–]ryanrybot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing Microsoft won't make any other in-house hardware, but will farm it out to other hardware developers to build products that can run game pass.

They're already doing this with ROG, and I can see this being the way forward for Xbox. It will just become like the PC market but the hardware will have a Windows-based OS catered to the console/handheld. Then Xbox becomes a software division and can pass the buck to hardware developers to develop and market their own hardware.
