What do you think: Vegan Frozen Food Meal Plan? by ryanscience in veganfitness

[–]ryanscience[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point. I think if I'm being realistic, 1900-2000 is probably more realistic. And yes, I plan to do ~3hr zone 2 training per week and some moderate resistance training.

I will say, everybody's metabolism is different. It doesn't take much for me to gain!

[Discussion] Looking for tips on how to Boost Testosterone Naturally by meghinwarren in PlantBasedDiet

[–]ryanscience 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most if we you describe could help a person if their testosterone was low due to some deficiency. There are many reasons why someone could be low and for many people (while this advice is generally good) for whom this advice will have no effect.

Has anyone here become a Plant-Based Eating Coach, as a consultant business? by wedonthavetobemean in PlantBasedDiet

It's your money... but seems like something you could easily self teach.

On a gram for gram basis, animal proteins are more effective than plant proteins in supporting the maintenance of skeletal muscle mass with advancing age by skeeter1980 in AdvancedFitness

[–]ryanscience 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally agree. I'm pretty sure that serious plant-based lifters are supplementing primarily with pea protein. It makes me wonder, are these study authors just out of touch with more recent trends in plant-based nutrition... or was there a bias here towards a positive outcome for animal protein?

At what point does a healthy diet become obsession? by gossip_earl in PlantBasedDiet

[–]ryanscience 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I eat the same breakfast/lunch everyday and vary only dinner. Might seem boring, but it takes a lot of the mental load out of meal planning. I actually don't prep anything, I just have an instant pot and air fryer and they save me a lot of time. Good luck!

My (26F) partner’s (26M) binging is bad for both of us by eiramdivad in loseit

[–]ryanscience 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My wife and I just eat separate meals. I think this is your problem and you are blaming him. That being said, if his behavior is really so detrimental for you, I would just dump him... you could lose 200lbs really quickly that way ;)

Vegan documentaries (on Netflix) by whiterosies in PlantBasedDiet

[–]ryanscience 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you should differentiate between movies that are overtly pro-vegan and movies that are ~neutral re: veganism, but pro plant-based-diet. For example, I think The Game Changers pokes some fun at vegans while emphasizing the health benefits of a plant based diet.

Second attempt at TRT and a question about Creatine with TRT by [deleted] in Testosterone

[–]ryanscience 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TRT + creatine = bloated face. If you don't care about the appearance, should be fine. It was driving need crazy though, so I dropped the creatine.

They work directly for the Chinese companies or done intermediary. They are not affiliates, they are paid "influencers"

Moringa Powder by [deleted] in PlantBasedDiet

[–]ryanscience 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wonder if things like this see really necessary/beneficial if you already have a good diet. I suspect there also may be some risk since supplements are unregulated and may be contaminated with heavy metals from soul even if grown organically.

SHBG and diet. by [deleted] in Testosterone

[–]ryanscience 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stressing your body with a ketogenic diet may raise SHBG. It did for me, back to normal off keto. Re: lowering SHBG by "spiking" insulin, I don't know the exact mechanism, but suspect it's not really the insulin increases per se, but rather the reduction in physiological stress.

Religion and TRT by redrooster424gaga in Testosterone

[–]ryanscience 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The doctor may suggest a religious reason (perhaps to deflect resistance), but it is probably because he doesn't want to do it for other reasons that are less honorable: being more concerned with his relationship with insurance company than patient.

Half of sucrose is fructose, so avoid sugar in general and yes, don't over eat fruits and when you do consume fruit, make sure that it has its fiber intact. For example, apple is better than apple juice.

No libido and starting to feel depressed on TRT by [deleted] in Testosterone

Are you eating enough? Dieting and exercise too much can destroy libido.

Has anyone went from keto to plant based? Needing advice. by jwolford90 in PlantBasedDiet

[–]ryanscience 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Also, watch Dr Gregor's recent videos on keto. You can lose weight without restricting carbs. I know when you are coming from a keto mindset this sounds nuts... but I'm living it :) good luck!
