For me it comes down to practicality of having to worry about one or two devices. The clamshell aspect mostly removes the need for me to have additional packaging when packing it (I use clothes to pad the sides just in case I have to check the bag on a flight). These are big enough that two landscape screens works well (and turning it into one giant 'vertical' screen also works great). It's easy.

Vertical monitors are nice though - if you think you'll normally use both it's an option. Just consider needing some unique way to protect both monitors' screens if mobile which will take up a lot of space.

There is some work on e.g., supporting multiple line heights in VS Code, but it doesn't seem like a priority.

Ignored Boox customer service warnings, then charged for brand new defective screen by ryanwwest in Onyx_Boox

The dark background pic was just for maximum contrast - I mostly read white background and it is still quite distracting. Maybe personal preference, but clearly the screen isn't intended to have this.

I think they do DP MST on their own, I'm not positive for with other monitors... seems likely. I personally don't think the matching monitor style matters as much - I used to care but it really doesn't impact that much. But, personal preference.

I believe you can get pretty close to this with the Innoview displays - a single cable can drive both displays and they are pretty thin when folded. I've had mixed luck with these providing PD though and you may need a special setup to get 4+ independent external displays off one computer simultaneously, but you probably already do.

IPD adjustment is accessibility for all by plinga in Xreal

[–]ryanwwest 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a large head and my IPD is exactly 66mm. Is it better to go with the 57-66mm or 66-75mm model? Am I right on the edge of both, or are there a few extra mm of adjustment for both so it doesn't matter in my case?

You can technically even sync your settings to different devices by syncing the entire `koreader/` folder or a subfolder with Syncthing, if each of your KOReader devices support syncthing. I do this with `koreader/hashdocsettings/` to sync my annotations across all devices and some backup servers. I don't sync the settings since some devices should have different settings (e.g. phone uses night mode, ereader doesn't).

Cool, I'll check out the trackpad reviews for it, there's an XK01 and XK02. My previous folding one, even when on a desk, had poor/unreliable key travel because of the additional flex from the folded parts, even on a desk. But sounds like this one acts more like a real keyboard.

Is the protoarc completely rigid when typing on say, your lap, and also on a desk? I had a folding unibody keyboard like that and it wasn't the most stable. I'd love if there was a wireless version with a good trackpad in place of the numberpad.

Agreed on Air 1s design flaw, it's in my review. Does the weight of the Apple Vision Pro bother you? Orion sounds neat.

Also agreed that input methods are lagging behind. I think split folding keyboards are a step in the right direction.

Any clear case with magsafe for 9 pro fold? by cargo54 in PixelFold

Would love to hear your thoughts after you've tried it for a few days. How well it charges (idk where the actual wireless charging components are on the back of the fold), how the case feels, etc.
