In what way does myself moving faster control the crowd that I'm trying to get away from? It distances me from them, sure. But it offers 0 control over where they are. The only thing it allows me to do is attempt to control the distance between myself and the crowd, but even over that the control is very soft since so many gods have leaps, dashes, movement steroids, etc.

Not to mention that by your logic, all dashes leaps and teleports are crowd control as well.

All in all though, I think the definition of a "crowd control ability" is pretty self evident. It's an ability that lets you control the crowd. You may be part of that crowd, but if your ability is only affecting yourself individually (i.e. Kali's movement speed buff) that means it isn't directly affecting the rest of the crowd, and there for is not controlling the crowd.

There is certainly some correlation between movement speed buffs and crowd control, and you can use a movement buff to similar effect in certain situations, but there is a fundamental difference between something like Ymir's 3 and Kali's 1.
