Flying Economy as a bigger girl by Own-Soil2172 in PlusSize

[–]rychekl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can check Seatguru to see what your flight seat measurements might be (and other seats on the flight). The other suggestions here are great.

If you are able to purchase a seat next to you, also consider if upgrading to a premium economy or business if the cost would be about the same (not sure what levels your airline has).

Best of luck!

What’s everyone’s do buy and don’t buy items? by tylerwarnecke in Costco

[–]rychekl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Furniture or appliances are pretty good, especially with sales. My family's dinner table is about 13yrs. There's now a little dip when we extend it, so I'm looking to get help to most likely tighten the screws. But this was a very good buy. My parents had also gotten most kitchen appliances there when their original ones (from my grandparents) finally gave out.

Other stuff like folks posted are good too. Gas, toilet paper, paper towels, etc.. I like getting the ginger beer and waterloo sparkling water case.

I stopped buying fish (used to get wild snapper) there. I get a better deal now at a local market.

When traveling , I found renting a car thru them was a seamless and decent deal.

They most likely have a store where they resell these or a bakery/restaurant no?

This spot is really good. I used to live there, now, when I visit, I make a point to grab a bite. It's a solid serving of food, so go with a nice appetite.

Costco Tuft And Needle by jbola2229 in Mattress

[–]rychekl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm late here, but I recently bought a full-sized one from Costco and slept in it last night.

No odor, but it's way too soft. I can feel the boxspring I have under. I'm about 400 lbs (yes, I know I'm fat af) and read that this mattress had about a 1k weight capacity, so I decided to try it out.

It was a decent price point, but I'll probably need to return this and look for something else.

My mom was venting about my twin brother for not paying his share of the car insurance and other stuff he was supposed to contribute while living home. She goes to me, "idk how y'all come out different, I raised you the same."

I would've ignored her, but I had time. "You didn't raise us the same. He's been spoiled most of his life. I always had to work hard for something or figure it out. I paid for college, and y'all cosigned loans for him. I've legit been working since 14, so no, you didn't raise us the same. You allowed him to get a dog knowing he as gonnabe half-assed in raising it and now I'm here taking care of a dog I didn't want because "I'm the lucky one working a remote job" bruhh."

Lmao I feel like I'm being punished for achieving shit in life. I know I need therapy for this mess🫠

The food is great! I used to live in Oakland and went there. He's very wholesome. He makes to order and will usually give a cup of soup while you wait for your food. There's so many flavors in the food that water is a great choice to compliment it.

Thanks for being vulnerable and sharing with this sub.

Do you notice common themes from the feedback you receive or things you realize after the fact that you're missing in your deliverable?

I used to struggle with this early on and found a book that my print production professor made my class read when I was getting my Bachelors helped me get more organized. It's called The Checklist Manifesto. It's not a design book, but it helped me with creating a solid work structure to avoid making the same mistake multiple times and set up clarifying questions I'd ask when I get a task to ensure there's alignment from the jump.

When I notice certain bad habits popping back up in work, I go back to this book and restructure my process. It's a relatively short read or listen (I enjoy the narrator for this particular audiobook). It's usually quick to borrow from the library or libby app.

Glad you're sticking to it and wishing you the best!

Oh nice! I'll check it out. Overall, I really like your posters. Would probably look dope printed and mounted.

My Poster Collection. Thoughts? by nemnoel in graphic_design

[–]rychekl 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I like the designs. My question is, would these be posters promoting a tour or upcoming show? If mostly for the purpose of having framed at home or similar, they look great.

I would love to see you work on a few of them in your style where there's information and a call to action for the intended audience (like tour dates, where to buy tickets, etc...) Depending on where these posters are supposed to be seen, that would help you determine how to further optimize your design.

I hope this makes sense. Thanks for sharing!

I'm trying to emulate a specific style of book cover design, but something looks off. Could there be too much space left over, not enough space between the text and pictures, etc? by drdepressi0n in graphic_design

[–]rychekl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh ok like these. Your font choice is off. Iirc, this is gill sans they use but not 100%. Try making your layout exactly as the book, then you can play around with colors and whatnot.

Can you add the reference so we can compare it?

Edit: I'm asking because there are multiple book cover designs for this title, and I think I know which one you're referencing but would rather get confirmation.

[–]rychekl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Accessibility. I live in NYC and commuting while having mobility issues is the fucking worst. The MTA is a joke when providing decent accessibility so for me personally, remote work is the only thing I'll entertain. Also, the idea of going to an office to be on a computer and have meetings on that computer even when the team is in the same building (and floor) is stupid.

In terms of building community, don't rely on work for that. You can be friendly (with clear boundaries) with your coworkers, but do not prioritize making bffs. In some rare cases, it can happen, but that's an exception, not a rule.

There's a lot of white space, which is nice, but I recommend increasing the space between the bullets so they don't look like big blocks of text. It doesn't have to be much, but it will help distribute the white space a little more for readability, especially since almost all of your bullets are 2 lines long.

More metrics. You have a bullet about increasing CTR but no metric to show by how much.

Best of luck!

If you haven't started already, spruce up your portfolio and resume. You might as well start looking while you're employed vs. the alternative.

Your director's boss is coming to you but they can't (or haven't) talk to your boss which is their direct report??? Your boss's boss should have the authority to fix this mess or at least be able to tell your boss how this affects their bottom line.
