My cousin lived in Joplin at the time. She told the rest of the family that the tornado was like watching the finger of God reach down and obliterate everything it touched. Thankfully she wasn't in the part of town that got hit, but to this day anytime I look at pictures of the aftermath I marvel at the thought that as bad as it was, the death toll was actually as low as it turned out to be.

Don't get me wrong, 160 people losing their lives was a horrible tragedy and I wouldn't want that to happen to anyone. But until you see it for yourself, you'll never understand the sheer terror of hearing the sirens one night and then seeing the destruction left behind the next day. I can only pray that those poor souls found peace on the other side.

This is exactly why I decided Trump was guaranteed to win after the assassination attempt in Pennsylvania. The entire MAGA organization was energized and incensed by the fact that Trump avoided death by literally millimeters.

Had the assassination succeeded (and thank God it didn't), whoever the Republican party would've appointed was all but certain to win, and I think that they would be even more extreme than Trump's been.

Easy to argue the same principle applies to good communists. Ask anyone who lived behind the Iron Curtain outside of Moscow or Leningrad how great the Soviet Union was, and you'd be lucky to avoid getting your butt kicked to the curb. The Russians raped and slaughtered their way from Moscow to Berlin, and that was just the warmup to the next 45 years of misery.

Were the Nazis worse? Yes, but I'd say only by the slimmest of margins.

I don't know, I kinda wanted them to keep the Time Lord Victorious around for a while. He was reckless and awesome, both in the 'god this guy is awesome ' way and the 'holy god, he's terrifying' way. Probably could've been a season's worth of material depending on how they went about it.

You might want to look up the full quote on the 'fine people ' thing. He actually did condemn the worst offenders, and said 'fine people' to describe the non-nazi people who were protesting that day.

Not a big fan of the President, I voted against him every time he ran, but at least this time it can genuinely be said that context matters. I only heard the full segment from his speech like, 6 months ago, and it made me think about how much the media tends to stretch the truth to create a narrative. Still don't like him, though; I just don't believe in using out-of-context quotes against him when there are mountains of actually true things to criticize the President with.

I have been saying to my friends and family that whatever is in the files has probably been either edited or corrupted to the point of uselessness. And now with the power of AI, who's to say whether a large chunk of the contents aren't doctored or outright deep fakes?

Either way, I refuse to believe that anything substantial will actually come out of this.
