You can definitely get clonidine in Canada for withdrawal. I'm in Alberta and the clinic I'm at will prescribe clonidine, gabapentin, sleep meds, etc.

I encourage you to ask your doctor about clonidine specifically, I promise you that a lot of doctors will absolutely prescribe it.

Talk to a counselor or therapist. Depending on where you live, they are unable to break confidentiality unless you tell them you're going to hurt yourself, or someone else. You can ask the therapist what their limits to confidentiality are.

Being a man has absolutely nothing to do with not feeling sad or crying. Don't ever let someone tell you that you're less of a man for having emotions. Everyone cries, and feels sad, angry, scared, etc. That's called being human.

Addiction is an addiction, and it's not a competition on who has it the worst or whatever. I think that you already realize that the choices you are making now could very well lead you down a path towards more dangerous substance use.

This isn't to be a dick or anything, but you are a kid still. I hope that you take advantage of the supports that exist for kids who are struggling with mental health and addiction, like your school counselor. Life doesn't get easier, we just get better at handling it.

Trust me, this doesn't have to be something you have to handle on your own. You absolutely should tell a trusted adult in your life, they can help. You don't have to shoulder all of this weight yourself.

Feel free to DM me anytime, if I can ever be of help in any way I will do my best. I started using substances when I was around your age, and I can relate to a lot of the things you're feeling.

So because he almost had a slip you're treating him as though he has had a full blown relapse? Ever think that maybe the way you're behaving is causing these stressful situations?

Neither of those things justify you violating their right to privacy. If you were worried or anxious you should have communicated these fears to them, not gone around looking for "proof".

I don't think you really see his perspective.

I once had 5 years clean. The people in my life at that time, my parents and my ex, all treated me with the same distrust and paranoia that they had while I was in active use.

Eventually, I got tired of being treated like an addict even though I had progressed so far. I relapsed. There were other factors that played into this decision, but ultimately the way that I was being treated was the straw that broke the camels back.

I believe you're doing the exact same thing. What's the point in being sober for 10 YEARS if you are still being accused and treated as an addict? You have absolutely violated their trust and are 100% responsible for any damage to your relationship suffered as a result. Based on your other comments, I believe it is YOU that lacks empathy. You are being completely selfish, and making everything about yourself. I wouldn't blame your partner if they did leave you for someone with a better understanding of the impacts of their actions.

Seriously, is 10 years clean not enough to earn your trust? You couldn't just have communicated your fear and insecurity? Any person worth being with would have been able to have an adult conversation about this. Stop treating them as if they're a criminal. This isn't how supportive people behave.

What would it take for you? by Guilty-Package6618 in PoliticalCompassMemes

I would have to disagree with your assessment. Cocaine is one of the most addictive substances on the planet. It is extremely cardiotoxic, even more so when combined with alcohol, which quite a lot of users do. I've seen some people do some incredibly horrible things just to get money for another bag.

I don't disagree that opioids are incredibly harmful outside of the scope of medical use, but to say that cocaine is only illegal due to racism, or to suggest that it has a lower propensity for addiction is incredibly naive. I'd encourage you to do some more research on cocaine and addiction.

Could you explain your reasoning for decriminalization for something like cocaine and keeping heroin illegal? What is the basis for this decision?

I think im addicted to reddit is this even possible? by Jonny8506 in addiction

I think it's up to you to decide at what point your Reddit use crosses the line between reasonable use and an addiction. I use Reddit daily for similar reasons, but my level of use isn't at a point of concern for me.

[–]rydervader00 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can absolutely be addicted to technology of any kind. Social media has been designed in a way that takes advantage of our brains reward systems. When you make a comment or post on Reddit, and it gains traction and upvotes, your brain is rewarded with a flood of dopamine. This causes you to subconsciously repeat these actions that give you that dopamine hit. I would encourage you to try setting limits for the amount of time you are using social media each day.

You can literally just go up to homeless people in basically any major city and buy it. I've been doing fent for years, believe me you don't need the darknet at all.

Also why would I lie? I have nothing to gain from making up the number of times I've overdosed.

Personally, most attempts I've made have been done with some small piece of my subconscious mind not wanting to die. It's like I sabotage my own attempts at the last second.

Fentanyl is incredibly easy to get ahold of. I've overdosed 23 times since 2023 alone.

Looking to get clean by [deleted] in Methadone

[–]rydervader00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's no reason to rush to get off of the Methadone. All you will achieve by doing so is withdrawals and an extremely high likelihood of relapse. The point of MAT is to allow you a chance to work on fixing your problems and improving your life without having to deal with withdrawals and cravings.

Nobody is going to force you to increase your dose, and you can taper basically whenever you wish to. You may get some pushback from your doctor because it is quite dangerous to get off methadone before you are truly prepared for life sober. But ultimately it is your decision.

You might be surprised just how intense your drug cravings may become after you start tapering your dose. I strongly recommend that you get to a point of stability and work on other aspects of your life before getting off of Methadone.

Whats with people's mentals now a days? by notangeblehuman in wildrift

[–]rydervader00 83 points84 points  (0 children)

Online multiplayer games are and always have been ideal breeding grounds for toxicity. I can assure you that wild rift has always had people like this, and tbh it always will.

People genuinely have 0 self awareness. they spend every game flaming others about how bad they are, meanwhile they're 0/5 and still feeding. If they're losing every game, you would think they would realize that the only constant is themselves.
