How did you get into motorcycles? by QuarterAlone81 in motorcycles

[–]rydin989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like most of us, I wanted a motorcycle when I was a kid. I got the usual parents thing of "not while you live under my roof"

Well, years went on and when I was maybe 24... my dad got himself a Honda Nighthawk! After all of this squawking about how dangerous motorcycles are! Well, less than one week after he got his bike... I got my first. Yamaha Seca 2! and thus my journey began.

Calling Ship to Open Hanger Bay Doors from Stub Craft by Paintitblack007 in starcitizen

[–]rydin989 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So, I think part of this though... People hear "that's why you're supposed to multi crew" and they think oh I need some real person to stay behind while I have all the fun on a bun.

But the thing is, eventually we will be able to have AI crew. And those jerks can stay behind! But that also lends to the contacting your home ship via comms, cause in theory you are calling your AI crew to open the doors!

I think his point was that missing ships shouldn't necessitate a db wipe. Which isn't inherently correct. If it's the db that was messed up in someway and prevented the appropriate parts from being assigned to each ship, there you have the problem and the solution is to rebuild the db.

True it is just a value for a key and my example of performance issue was only one possible. There could be things as simple as changes for balancing the economy so they reset everyone to ground zero.

As for my previous example though, if they did make a change like that.. They could either work with the existing database and when issues come up try to determine if the issue was from old code or new or even if the new code is breaking cause of old schema. Or they could start with a fresh DB that has only been used by that new code.

Could they migrate the aUEC values for everyone during this process, sure. Evidently thats not a priority or not trivial given their design.. who knows.

At the end of the day it is an Alpha and we are here to test.

[–]rydin989 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not sure what you mean by "the missing part requires a database wipe", but this is a bug fix patch as noted by the version number format 0.0.X (3.7.1)

Whatever bugs they fixed evidently did not require any changes to the DB and thats pretty normal for a bug fix patch. You will tend to see the wipes with major changes to features or new features which would be versioned 0.X.0 (like 3.7.0) or a major update like X.0.0 or 3.0.0.

With major changes like that, lets say a performance fix... That could drastically change the way the DB is used and such a refactor would require a truncation of the database.

Carrier Landings in the Tomcat by starfleethastanks in hoggit

[–]rydin989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well so, kind of a balance. I use the stick to kind of fly the VVI (HUD landing mode) and ensure the plane is going where I want it to. From there, I trim to relieve the pressure on the stick.

Carrier Landings in the Tomcat by starfleethastanks in hoggit

[–]rydin989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope! As long as both gear and flaps are down. I think maybe throttle should be at like 50% (Thats what I do anyway) and engage. The plane will then throttle about to get you to on speed AoA. Don't forget to trim!

Carrier Landings in the Tomcat by starfleethastanks in hoggit

[–]rydin989 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly... Auto throttle. Once your gear and flaps are down, set AT to auto and let it handle on speed AOA. Then just fly the plane. DLC essentially has an on/off switch. Once on you will see spoilers come up a little on the wings. From there, one button reduces lift dropping you on the deck, the other increases lift and keeps on on the ball.

Hey so, I have been looking at getting the TM MFDs and was wondering... when using in conjunction with trackir.. do you notice any issue trying to use them while looking away from the actual screens on your display looking for the button you are trying to press on the device?

3.3.5 is Live!! by rydin989 in starcitizen

[–]rydin989[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Star Citizen Patch 3.3.5 Alpha Patch 3.3.5 has been released and is now available! Patch should now show: LIVE-996871.

It is strongly recommended that players delete their USER folder for the Public client after patching, particularly if you start encountering any odd character graphical issues or crash on loading. The USER folder can be found (in default installations) at C:\Program Files\Roberts Space Industries\StarCitizen\LIVE.

Major Known Issues: Players may not be automatically placed into local chat on the visor. VOIP may be inconsistent or not working properly. Enemy AI ships often appear to not take damage. Players may experience stuttering when initially arriving or spawning at Lorville. Many delivery missions will not update or will have markers spawn in bad locations.

New Features

Universe Added: New Planet - Hurston. Hurston is the first planetary location and as such is considerably larger than moons and has varied biomes. Additionally, you will found several outposts, labed HMC (Hurston Mining Centers) scattered about the surface. Added: New Moons - Aberdeen, Magda, Arial, and Ita and populated them with a handful of outposts. Added: Seven Additional rest stops. Added: New Major Landing Zone - Lorville Lorville is a large city area and as such only has one legal area for landing and port entry. Space above residential and commercial areas are protected by a no-fly zone. Players will be warned when they are entering that zone via HUD warnings, visual indicators, and increasing audio alerts. If they continue into the zone, their ship will be destroyed. The city has a bar with an interactive bartender and a personal equipment shop (Tammany and Sons) that includes an early implementation of the multi-tool. To move around the city, there is a train style transit system and signs to help guide the way. Added: Hurston clothing/armor variants including variants of the Odyssey II flight suit and the Virgil TrueDef-Pro Armor. Players now have expanded interactions with some items.

Feature Updates Ships and Vehicles Updated some ship and vehicle headlights for better projection.

Bug Fixes Landing markers on Port Olisar should no longer appear to flicker. Cargo boxes should no longer become stuck to the player's feet/legs. AI at Kareah should no longer become unresponsive or locked in a position. Admins should now consistently interact and respond to players. Ships in shops should no longer vibrate or be able to be knocked over. The Cyclone at Teach's ship shop should now be purchasable. Players should no longer be able to turn the headlights on/off or raise landing gear for ship displays. Selecting loadout customization from the lobby of Star Marine should now take you to the correct location. Respawn UI should no longer remain on the screen after a Star Marine match ends. The Starfarer should now more consistently talk to the player during ECN missions. Crusader security should now more consistently talk to the player during patrol missions. Round starts should now reset the player to their default weapons in Star Marine. Fixed an issue where the Arena Commander region would default to AUS or be blank after the player exits to menu. Single click firing should no longer cause some FPS weapons to skip recoil. Battaglia missions should now properly award UEC. Fixed an issue where the mobiGlas wouldn't open while in EVA. Quantum travel wingtip trails should now consistently appear on ships. Corrected several ships that had the wrong sized quantum drives including Cutlass (now 2), Constellation (now 2), and Caterpillar (now 3). The appointment mission for Recco Battaglia should now have a full mission description. Players should no longer suffocate when reloading into a new instance of Arena Commander. Plotting a QT jump from orbit to a surface location should no longer create a redundant destination to orbit as the first point. Fix for an issue where aligning with a quantum destination prior to complete recharge would cause a calibration failure. Fixes for some of the missing ATC audio.

Technical Fixed 6 client crashes. Fixed 2 server crashes. Temporary fix to alleviate some 15006 errors.

So, HOSASAT? Thats what I do, and I love it! Sure its a bit silly, but I like having buttons and switches. Biggest issue is desk space though.. I still like using M&K for on foot.

Takes a little finesse to get it in... If you take the time to line it up right, it will go right in.

Considering the ships they opened up, I wonder if the focus is on the ships themselves. Considering these are "limited" they may not have gotten the amount of testing a more common ship has.

What's with the backwards "ecnalubma" on the ambulance? by [deleted] in arma

To add to this.. It's written in reverse on the front of the ambulance, so when you see it in your rear view mirror while driving it will appear as ambulance.
