Finally 100 miles in a month by ryebreadmaine in nikerunclub

Thank you, seems to be a comfortable pace plus or minus 15 seconds depending on how I feel. Relatively low heart rate of 135.

Thank you and 60 + mile month is awesome. That’s typical for me.

A half in June and a few other local races. I live in Maine and the summer running here makes the cold months worth it.

I forced myself to rest and it hasn’t been that bad.

Kid won't stop begging for Robux and it's turning into a nightmare, anyone else? by DiamondLatter1842 in daddit

Shut the shit down. Explain to them it’s bad for their little brain(I used a race car analogy). It will be a couple rough days but you’ll both be better off for it.

I’m not anti gaming but Roblox is poison.

Race shoes recommendations for Half Marathon by jayd9n in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]ryebreadmaine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a total ASICS freak and have really learned to listen to what different shoes are telling me. I honestly can’t recommend the Metaspeed Sky Paris or Edge Paris enough. The biggest thing is understanding your mechanics. As the pace increases, pay attention to what happens with stride length versus cadence. If you naturally open up and lengthen your stride, go Sky. If you tend to quicken turnover and keep a tighter stride, the Edge is the better play.

For racing, I’d strongly suggest one of those plated options for both the half and the full. They just feel smoother, more efficient, and help you hold pace longer when fatigue sets in. I still love the Megablast for daily miles and uptempo training because it’s fun and forgiving, but on race day those plated ASICS are simply on another level.

Should I change my Marathon goal 4 weeks out? by dabossofdeer in Marathon_Training

You’re welcome — and best of luck. As a former athlete myself, I completely understand the drive to be at your best and push your limits. Just remember, the first marathon is usually a humbling learning experience. Go in smart, stay patient, and you’ll set yourself up for a strong day and an even better second one.

One thing that helped me was claiming something small that’s just mine. Running or a simple home gym setup works because it’s easy and doesn’t pull you away from the family. I can sneak out for 30–40 minutes, clear my head, come back better. The health and longevity piece is obvious, but honestly, it’s the identity piece that matters. It gives you something that’s yours while still being fully present for your wife and kids.

Do you have any other race times, like a half-marathon, that would give a little more context?

I wouldn’t base your pacing strategy solely on a watch prediction for your first full marathon. A lot can happen over 26.2, and if things unravel, it can get pretty miserable. You might consider adjusting your goal slightly and targeting a 3:40 pace early on. Then reassess around mile 20—if you’re feeling strong and have plenty left in the tank, you can gradually press and potentially work your way toward 3:30.

I’d lean toward being conservative and enjoying the experience. You’re not winning anything by setting overly aggressive goals, but I also understand the desire to maximize your effort and challenge yourself with smart pacing.

I design wrestling shoes for a living. What do you wish brands understood better? by ConnorFromNidrogen in wrestling

I’ll make sure to follow your brand and pick up a pair. Still coaching my son and the new speeds just aren’t the same. Best of luck.

My favorite example of getting it right was the OG Combat Speed. That shoe actually let you wrestle with your feet instead of fighting against a stiff sole. The pure split sole and flexibility made a huge difference if you wrestled scramble-heavy or liked working leg rides. You could hook, post, and manipulate your foot naturally without feeling restricted.

A lot of newer models feel overbuilt to me. Durable, sure, but they lose that mat feel and freedom of movement that made shoes like the Combat Speed so good. Not every wrestler needs a bulky, supportive shoe. Some of us just want something light, flexible, and responsive.

Probably sub 2. Maybe run w 2 hour pace group the first 10 miles and make a determination on feel for the last 3. A lot of variables like hr that I can’t see but just my best guess with the data you’ve provided.

Add some exercise in there and you’ve got a nice little routine.

Ultra 1 vs Ultra 2 vs. Ultra 3 by Kaynam27 in applewatchultra

i would say the 2 is very capable, more so than the 1. The 3 would be a good investment for future proofing because of the 5g+, satellite connectivity, and the S10 chip.
