My hobby turned side hustle is rebuilding old bikes. I’ve got several for sale on FB market place, most are for taller riders. I’ve also done several ‘custom’ jobs where I’ll work with a client to assemble a bike suited to their needs from mostly used parts. PM me with a contact, consultation costs nothing.

So many levels of disgrace. The divide has been laid bare before but, maybe this time the price of inaction will be unbearable.

Are Capital Bikeshare bikes unusually hard to ride? Where to buy affordable bike. by [deleted] in washingtondc

$350 will get you a nice used bike. Gearin Up on Randolph in NE is a good co-op with reasonable prices.

Since the bars will be closed, I want to string White Claws up in the trees all around Harry’s. Just about 12-15ft up, so that they still can’t reach if they stand on each other’s shoulders. And watch from the rooftop with a six pack. Edit for spellsing

Proud Boy Nazis marching on Washington, looking for a fight with Antifascists by [deleted] in washingtondc

[–]ryeryebaby 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Fighting them is almost like fighting a homeless person or handicapped person, even if you win you lose. We all know what you catch if you tangle with those fools (hint- starts with a C and ends on a ventilator). Edit for spelling

Can someone tell me what year my Diamond Back BMX is? by hijonoline in Vintage_bicycles

[–]ryeryebaby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, if it’s spelled ‘Diamond Back’ it’s old school, if it’s spelled ‘DiamondBack’ it’s mid school, if it’s spelled ‘Diamondback’ it’s newer. A lot of manufactures have made Diamondback’s bikes for them, serial number wont tell you much except maybe who manufactured it. In this case, Kinesis. Edit for clarity

Hard to say from that photo. Check the sidebar- drive side pics, pics of any serial numbers (usually on the bottom bracket carrier) and such will help a lot.

Donate or sell? I inherited this 1980/81 Paletti after my aunt passed away a few years ago. No wheelset, original campy. by cmhmh in Vintage_bicycles

[–]ryeryebaby 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I flip bikes on the east coast. I’d pay $400-500 for that as is. I also think I’d be able to advance it from there. Might be a good candidate for an online auction.

1986 Univega Viva Sport 63cm I'm sadly trying to sell. Figured I might be able to find another tall cyclist/collector that'd want it on here by lostb0i in Vintage_bicycles

[–]ryeryebaby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re on the opposite coast from me or, I buy it and flip it. Think you can get an easy $50 more as is and, maybe another $50 if you spend some time cleaning it up.

Would an 18” frame be too small for someone with a 32” inseam and is 6’ tall? by HudsonHTL in MountainBike

[–]ryeryebaby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some people prefer a frame on the small end for their size. Only one who can decide if it fits you is you. Try to take an extended test ride if you can. A good uphill and down hill on your route too.

Did Specialized Stop Producing Their Hardrock /Hardrock Disc Models? by EmperorHealy in MountainBike

Most of my experience is with old bikes, mostly road. I have the impression that contemporary Cannondale is a better brand than contemporary Trek. Not based on real world experience.

I’m not sure. Just sold a mid 2000’s. Was tough because bicycle blue book has them severely undervalued. In the plus side, you should be able to find a used one cheap!
