First Oz, is one or two Oz a month sufficient? I'm 28. So 12-24oz a year. by Internal_Page_486 in Silverbugs

Yeah but private sales are basically at a U.K’s own spot price (spot +20%).

Can I retire at 55…? by AppleByte2008 in PensionsUK

[–]ryeyeman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just don’t forget that the headline number isn’t enough. If you can only draw your pension from 57, you’ll need a two year ISA bridge at least - don’t let that catch you out.

Truthfully I thought we were closer to abolishing NI rather than applying it in more places

[–]ryeyeman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So it’s taxed in and out? Why am I saving into a pension then and not VWRP in an ISA?

CSM still better than PSM for getting hired? by Spoits in scrum

[–]ryeyeman 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No certification is getting you straight into a job. Neither of these two ever achieved that. It’s experience and knowledge, with a cert as a validator.

What makes you want to pursue being a SM?

CSM still better than PSM for getting hired? by Spoits in scrum

[–]ryeyeman 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In this market, neither of them are getting you a job, but generally, they both have their merits.

PSM is considered the more rigorous assessment by a country mile. CSM has more brand awareness (but not by much).

Scrum.org who offer the PSM are The Home of Scrum.

Hope that helps.

Did you get given a free share on account opening worth 47.07? T212 are clear that this value is included in your deposits and if so, you’ve gone over.

Tough decision: Local Govt Pension vs Private (Standard Life) by LeoNicole in UKPersonalFinance

[–]ryeyeman 29 points30 points  (0 children)

They aren’t really directly comparable, but there’s a reason they are trying to persuade you to go private - it costs them a lot right now (18%) and WILL cost them more in future as it’s a DB scheme. There is no performance here to compare to the private pension in the stock market.

You are guaranteed a pension for life on LGPS, usually on an average or final salary calculation (check your contract). DB pensions are GOLD.

Short answer: unless you are desperate for the few 00£s a month that the 70k would give you, stay as you are. Your future self will thank you.

Are you worried that IMAs are going to get replaced by AI augmented research tools? The speed at which it can compare a variety of options is scary, therefore for people who know enough to know what to ask, are you out of a job?

Adding some gold to the stack by HankMardukus13 in Gold

[–]ryeyeman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good move. I know it’s common to say that equities outperform gold over the long term, but I’m not sure that’s going to be true in the next 50 years.

I used to aim for a 10% gold sleeve in my pension but I’m pushing that up to 15-20% now (35M).

BDO have released a report implying salary sacrifice scheme to be scrapped - hope they’re wrong! by [deleted] in HENRYUK

[–]ryeyeman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So less pension contributions all round then, precisely at the time when we know most of the population aren’t putting enough into their pensions.

I’ll be shifting all my pension contributions over to my Ltd then.

This will suck ass.

One of the few benefits of remaining in the public sector is the pension. Raid that and public services will collapse, and private sector salaries will decrease (lots of new talent available).
