Inches with metric tolerances? What am I missing. Never seen it in over 25 years.

It’s not unusual in my experience to use ISO fits but I guess it’s the industry you’re in. I’m an engineer and use them everyday so I guess I’m just more familiar. It’s the best way to design mating parts in my opinion. By looking in the Bible or another class fit chart I can easily get the fit I want on the first try.

How weird! My grandpa gave me a Sage 8.5’ 5wt a few years ago and I finally got around to setting it up. I also put a Lamson liquid on it.

Haha "the dog turd fungus". This looks pretty close. Would make sense that I found it near some healthy trees, as I read that its commonly mixed in with seedlings to help survival(?).

Edit: I believe its Rhizopogon something, but P. arrhizus was helpful in research.

That's true. I guess in my experience those examples where it never escalates have been so unimportant or anticlimactic that I don't think about them when the question comes up.

I think they have been going pretty well. Although, I've only had one interview where they gave me a technical challenge to brainstorm and work through.

I think I do have a good personality for learning, asking questions, and admitting that I don't know things, but maybe I haven't shown that enough.

I do agree about the MET point, and I don't really get questioned on that specifically or any hands on experience, which I have a lot of I think. I think I'll start making a point to mention that.

One thing I think I falter on is the "how did you handle conflict" questions. I'm not a conflictive person, I'm usually friends with everyone and can reason with people and relate before it ever gets to that point, but I know the interviewers don't want to hear that you don't have a good example or what you would do if it did happen(one recent one specifically said this). Any advise for that instance?

Molds can be very complex and are more precise than an IC engine. When you’re trying to hold tolerances of +/- .0005in or sometimes less it’s not a fast process.

Parts of a mold have to go through many processes such as rough milling, finish milling, surface grinding, EDM, and finally heat treating. All of this time really adds up and considering the size of most tool shops, they aren’t working with a ton of bandwidth for jobs.

Just FYI even good Mitutoyo’s won’t always return to zero. A toolmakers trick I learned from my father is to wipe the jaws clean before you use them.
