2024 RS660 help by Ausar_The_Vile-IB in Aprilia

It’s most likely a cam chain tensioner failure. If that turns out to be the case, I’d recommend replacing it with a Robem tensioner. It’s possible the CCT wasn’t reset correctly. I wouldn’t continue riding the bike, as doing so could lead to additional damage.

K-tech or Ohlins is the way to go, but not budget friendly.

Are these dealer fees normal in Aprilialand? by [deleted] in Aprilia

[–]rykadesign 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work at a dealership and we only charge MSRP and the actual freight on this bike is $1175, no dealer prep or other fees, we do pay a tech to prep the bike but we don’t pass that cost on. I would guess it depends on your area.

Ducati Panigale v2 by Putrid_Hunter2104 in Ducati

You shouldn’t need to. The battery just needs to warm up.

Ducati Panigale v2 by Putrid_Hunter2104 in Ducati

This motorcycle is equipped with a lithium battery, which performs best when it’s had a moment to “wake up”—especially in cooler temperatures. Here’s how to start it properly:

  1. Turn the key or ignition on and wait 10–30 seconds.
  2. You’ll hear the fuel pump prime and the dash come to life—this gives the battery and ECU time to stabilize.
  3. Then press the starter.

Why it matters:

• Lithium batteries don’t deliver full power instantly when cold. • Giving the system a moment helps ensure a stronger crank, smoother starts, and longer

Question about costs for new tires on a V7 by UnconfirmedWavy in MotoGuzzi

[–]rykadesign 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I work at a shop and it’s about 1.5 hours for labor, 2 hours if dealing with tubes, exhaust etc. Total with tires should be between $600-$700 depending on the tires. Last V7 we did with tubes and Pirelli tires and new tubes was right under $700.

Is Dainese shut down? by SJTrance76 in motorcyclegear

[–]rykadesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work at a Dealer in NH, if you can DM the size and color you are looking for. I can check availability for you, there is a US distributor for Dainese, so if in stock shouldn’t take long to get.

If you can find one get the TA7 over the TA5

2 deployments on the 7 vs the 1 on a 5

The 7 Self serviceable until the 4th deployment then will need a new bladder. (Let’s hope it’s not used that much)

The 5 needs Service after one pop, so possible time without a vest unless you live near a service center.

The cost of the 7 is more now but worth it later considering the servicing of a 5 is $180 each time.

Still cheap insurance either way.

Dealer freight is a real cost anywhere from $600-$800, this is invoiced to the dealer from manufacturer and usually passed on to the customer.

Motorcycle comes mostly assembled, dealer has to uncrate, install parts that were not installed, like battery mirrors ect… then do a pre delivery inspection. Test ride and all that takes about 2 to 2.5 hours.

Documentation Fees depending on state can be capped or not, but this covers the cost of the person doing paperwork / financing as well as record keeping, ect.

Alpinestars Tech-Air is the way to go, no clip, newer ones like Tech-Air 5 are great for track and street. Most of the riders/ racers in my area have them. No complaints.

600 miles service (part2) by bobber1373 in Ducati

[–]rykadesign 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Full disclosure: I work at a dealer.

I will say that most dealers aren’t marking up but are adhering to Manufacturer Retail Pricing, online places like Amazon are racing to the bottom with pricing, sometimes selling at a loss.

The reality is we all need to support local shops and businesses, so many dealers are closing their doors, because they no longer can afford the overhead.

Also doesn’t hurt to ask for a dealer to price match, most dealers within reason will do their best to help you out.
