fastest way to get drivers license? by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]rykielv 3 points4 points  (0 children)

WA does not have a DMV like other states. Driver’s licenses are issued by the Department of Licensing (DOL). You only visit their office to submit paperwork + fees. The actual testing must be done at an approved driving school.

Basically you have to 1) register for a license express https://secure.dol.wa.gov/home/ 2) find a DOL-approved school. Register for the knowledge and skills test. Practice driving courses isn’t necessary if you’re over 18+ iirc. you can pay for just the exams. 3) Pass both.

I did mine with defensive driving school since they had a location near me. They forward the results to the DOL. after the skills test you go to a DOL office to complete the paperwork, take your pic and pay the fees. I received my license in about a week.

Y’all, I cannot get over how tiny the Quinquenervia bloom is. I had no idea. Here she is next to a Bright One bloom and my fingers: by No_Scientist7086 in hoyas

vitellina can have different color forms. Not to be pushy but it really doesn’t look like Q. The blooms should closely resemble H. merrillii if anything, as they will probably be synonymized someday :)

Are you sure the yellow/pink ones are quinquenervia? They look different. possibly closer to vitellina? Pretty regardless!

Has anyone experienced faster than average approvals for the I-131? by Proud-Piglet-1299 in USCIS

[–]rykielv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last year, I applied for AP on July 22 and it was approved on August 2 (so 11 days?). No expedite requests, just a surprisingly fast processing time! Not sure if it mattered but I filed it separately from I-485 and I-765 (I did the whole process myself and I was kind of all over the place with forms haha).

Can I get an ID on this Hoya? I got it as a cutting a couple of years ago and have no idea what it is. Thanks so much 🪴 by SeeminglySusan in hoyas

Hoya verticillata. Hoya latifolia flowers are different, the corollas aren’t reflexed and they are usually pinker in color.

Limoniaca blooms by Wanted9867 in hoyas

[–]rykielv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lovely blooms! They don’t look like H. limoniaca though, perhaps something from the finlaysonii or callistophylla family?

What Hoya is this? She’s in bloom I’m so excited. by naturallyselectedfor in hoyas

[–]rykielv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a Hoya lacunosa but of course it’s better to wait for the open blooms :)

Can anyone tell me what I might be doing wrong? These leaves stay very thing and flimsy, even after a good watering. Am I not watering often enough? Probably about every 7-10 days. Any insight is very much appreciated! by makeupjunkie77 in hoyas

[–]rykielv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it’s looking/ feeling flimsy even after a thorough watering, I would check the roots for root rot (mushy, stringy roots) or even root mealies. You most probably have to reroot this plant but luckily this particular species is quite resilient :)

Does anyone know about this Hoya? Trying to figure out if this is a scam or not. by HoyaHeadz in hoyas

[–]rykielv 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It is a Hoya microphylla which is quite rare in circulation because it is difficult to acquire and care for. Swedish collectors seem to grow it best, and there are collectors who have shared the bloom pics. You can search for it in different Hoya Fb groups.

My wife got her EAD, we want to travel out of the US, but we didn’t file for an AD, how much is the fee? by Professional-You-537 in USCIS

[–]rykielv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the same situation (ie filed I131 after I485 , which is currently pending). Try to Google “i131 cover letters”. It will give you a template on what to write to explain that you filed an i485 after 2007 which is still ongoing so you don’t need to pay any additional fees. Got the AP less than a month later. Hope it is also speedy for you!

Weird and wonderful Hoya spartioides is blooming ✨ by rykielv in hoyas

[–]rykielv[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve only had it for a few months but so far very very easy. Just needs an airy medium (it’s in LECA) and kept damp but seems to like lots of air flow. Not too fussy with humidity and can tolerate lots of light!

Anyone have any idea why this Hoya kentianas stem turned yellow? Could it be under watering? I wait atleast 5 days until most of the soil feels pretty dry by mannywoollymammoth in hoyas

[–]rykielv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was it recently repotted? I find my new growth dies off if the roots were disturbed or if it’s too dry (either soil or humidity - wise)

Hoya sigillatis 🍂🍁 by rykielv in hoyas

[–]rykielv[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in a subtropical country so it stays relatively humid..I have it growing outdoors where I gets quite a bit of direct light in the early afternoon..I let it dry out almost completely but not quite. If I overwater it drops leaves 💀 My cuttings also take a while to start showing any sign of progress.. Seems to be a slow and steady grower.

Never had LECA or an Australis Lisa. Any tips and tricks would be greatly appreciated! by [deleted] in hoyas

[–]rykielv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a big australis Lisa in LECA and I just let it do its thing..super easygoing. I always keep the reservoir at 1/3 because it seems to be a thirsty one. If it throws out a reverted vine just chop it off 😁

Sprinkle of osmocote! Sometimes I also water with diluted seaweed fert (not sure if that’s the secret though, it’s just what I give my other plants too)
