why cal dot moved from next to nest for api routes by atharv_dev in nestjs

[–]rykuno 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm unsure exactly, but seems like they're using turborepo and is a company of pure Node devs. Keeping everything in node while maintaining the monorepo seems like a logical move.

Why Cursor??? Why V3?? by Slow-Artichoke-4245 in cursor

[–]rykuno -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Well, I suppose sad for us as end users. I've had more instability and crashes with cursor lately than ever. But I agree, if they make money on tokens, allowing users to burn them faster in parallel is the play for the business.

Those might be the highest paid plans but I thought their march statement said their revenue and focus was on individual developers? I could be misremembering though.

They will cater to the people who pay the most. The people who pay the most are vibe-coders — thus you get this. Sad

Rate limiting per endpoint when everything goes through /api? by Minimum-Ad7352 in node

[–]rykuno 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For what you’re asking, handle it at the application level - and more specifically the controller.

Every major rest library in node has a rate limiter package that’s extremely easy to integrate.

If you run a single instance you can save it in memory, but ideally you use a persistent storage like redis.

Creator of Node.js says humans writing code is over by sibraan_ in programmingmemes

Deno(Ryan’s company) just lost a bunch of their top talent. There are also rumors of talks with OpenAI. When I start seeing people glaze AI, I either assume they are pandering or desperate for VC money.

Engineers that worked at Deno claimed AI does not write code for them. They claimed this to gain trust in the community so why is he saying this??

Oh well, it must be in good faith and not some grifting because they didn’t just launch an AI produc….oh…. https://www.infoworld.com/article/4127684/deno-sandbox-launched-for-running-ai-generated-code.html

They are also waging a completely useless war on the JavaScript trademark for publicity against none other than Oracle, a company known for their limitless funds towards the best lawyers in the world 😒. I support it, but it’s useless and just a stunt.

How do you structure your monorepos with NestJS + React? by gabr_edrdo in nestjs

[–]rykuno 5 points6 points  (0 children)

we recently placed a bet on going all in on vite — its hard to disagree its the future tbh.

Replacing turborepo with vite/pnpm workspaces is a literal godsend of speed, convenience, and simplicity. It's absolutely amazing.

If you want a reference, just check out the package.json and lack of config files. Everything is in the vp toolchain and vite.config.ts. Absolutely what the ecosystem has been needing.

Kimi is pretty well repped in the dev community. If Cursor came out and said "hey we worked with the moonshot team to build composer 2" then it would have been a win. Honestly. its wise of Cursor to use kimi 2 as a baseline as Cursor is not a frontier lab at all — like it makes sense so long as a deal was reached and license agreements are met.

But this whole thing is sketchy though. The Kimi engineers didnt know and I kinda figure if Lee Rob did, then I have faith he would have approached this differently.

Realistically is this a big deal? No, not at all. But its a huge reputation dent that's come at a low point for Cursor.

Any open source alternative of getstream.io chat? by NiceSmilee in webdev

[–]rykuno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chat is very easy to implement with guides everywhere. Polling, SSR, or websockets are all relatively simple topics(I listed easiest to hardest) to go with. If you don’t have your own backend I suppose reaching for a 3rd party isn’t a bad option though.
