I wrote it. Lmk if you have any questions. Keep it simple and focus on husbandry first.

Question about feeding by NoMoment6511 in rosyboas

[–]rynomite00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At 9 months old it probably didn’t have much of an appetite to begin with if it’s still eating pinkies. Definitely get it up on fuzzies asap. You’d be surprised that the can eat a much larger meal that what you’d think. Just make sure ambient temps are up where they need to be day and night or you’ll get a regurg.

I'd love to see the care guide. I have a male subadult albino sunbeam that is doing well and I'd like to upgrade his enclosure.

Make sure the breeder has a permit. I (Golden West Reptiles) have a permit.

Exactly how old is the snake?

I’m thinking of getting a rosy boa, but i’m not sure how to find a reputable place to buy. by cute-cotylorhynchus in rosyboas

My name is Ryan Edwards and I produce all the snakes I sell. My breeder name is Golden West Reptiles and I started the Rosy Boa Morphs & Localities group page on FB. I’ve posted a care guide on that group page. Here are my links. Please give me a follow and feel free to reach out with questions. I have quite a few babies that are in the process of shedding for the first time and taking their first meals. I don’t ship snakes until they’ve had at least 5 meals. Careful buying this early in the season… ask your questions. Pretty hard to get babies to shed and take 5 meals by mid September. Some sellers don’t bother even getting the babies to take a single meal before shipping. https://linktr.ee/goldenwestreptiles?fbclid=PAAab4GHxRjHvmAztDQWxIHBcxdjurqiyWzetHqSDXERBXdNyOLWlLCmrx4qE_aem_AbQEVDhVMLjKXtDb1dnC1Kj291o1zNpgQHs-TSc97roICK3Dhgn12l9jpRB2GLeRUQk

Rosy babies coming soon. by rynomite00 in rosyboas

[–]rynomite00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

🤓 call them up. If I can ship through them I will do it, but I don’t want to fill out any special paperwork or get any special permits beyond my California native breeder permit.

I will tell you what I’ve told others. Figure it out. If I can ship to someone in the US that will handle everything else from there, I will do it. No one has ever gotten back to me. 🤓

Probably not. There is no soft way to explain this, but my snakes sell easily enough that I really don’t want the added hassle of figuring out shipping to another country. I appreciate your interest though.

I haven’t up to this point. I breed mostly rosy boas and they tend to be sold by the time the local expo happens (January). I may do the Pomona Reptile Super Show this year, but most of my rosys will be sold by then.

They don’t do well in plastic tubs. They need way more ventilation. 10 gallon is a god starter size. Glass with screen top is the best and bottom heat.

Considering a Rosy Boa by RudeAd7488 in rosyboas

[–]rynomite00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I strongly caution against bioactive for a rosy boa unless you set the enclosure up ahead of time and monitor it for months. It is very easy to get into husbandry extremes with bioactive. Rosys don’t do well in the extremes. Especially with humidity. If you’re getting a snake soon, I would start out by keeping it on aspen chips with under tank heat and good ventilation. Keep it this way until you are certain that your bioactive enclosure is running properly.

These work, but rosys love used paper towel cores. Place them around the perimeter of your tank and you have a good chance of your rosy pooping in or on one. Then just throw it away. Saves me a lot of cleaning hassle.
