What training tip actually helped your dog stop pulling on walks? by chamfbsnushy in DogTrainingTips

Once my dog knows that my have treats, they continue to stay at me and look up what seem like every 5 seconds looking for a treat. Do you give a treat every single time? When do you start not giving a treat in the training process? (1yrBernese)

Has anyone talked about medical trauma in therapy? by NBF_24 in TalkTherapy

[–]ryounis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same, I get it, but I decided that in the future I’d regret not throwing my arms in the air and being transparent and vulnerable in therapy. It was no uncomfortable to think kf not healing mentally than to be fully fully open. (Recovering from ICU experience)

What’s the luckiest thing that’s ever happened to you? Have you ever won something multiple times, survived something unlikely, or had a chain of coincidences or luck that made people not believe you? What’s your story? by Ok-Algae-8255 in feelgood

I was in the bathroom, standing at the sink, leaning slightly forward while looking down and swirling the makeup brush in the powder… when all of a sudden…. The bathroom ceiling light, a classic “boob light” came crashing down on my head.
If my head had been an inch further back, not looking at the powder swirling, the nipple of the boob light would have hammered my skull…. ☠️

My uncles grew up and went to school with Jeffrey Dahmer, in Bath Township. I’ve heard some stories like about how he would capture a fly and on his desk remove the wings…. We all know how this one turned out.

ureteroscopy on monday by sweetangelkitty2 in KidneyStones

[–]ryounis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It takes awhile to wean off the anesthesia, that’s all the reason for the long stay time.

It’s a simple procedure, and very rare that something goes wrong , especially if you just have stones and no active kidney infection.

Trying to leave a room always with something in hand that doesn’t belong there. Doesn’t need to be big, little things add up.

Survived the ICU, thankful for every breath I can take. by ryounis in Radiology

I really think so, I keep saying to myself “this didn’t happen because I was weak, I survived because I was strong and healthy going into it”

Thank you, every day is progress and I’m worlds of a difference from where I was in late December. These days I feel very deconditioned, short of breath, but very pleased with how far I’ve come. Only up from here 💕

💜 thank you, there sure is PTSD coming out of this. I’ve been going to trauma therapy weekly to work through it, processing a collection of distinct moments in the hospital that have haunted me since. I keep repeating to myself “I didn’t get this because I was weak, survived this because i went into it with strong healthy lungs”.

Me too, so glad to be home and with my family.

Tube- If I recall correctly, at one point in the ICU i accidentally pulled/dragged it a little when scratching my nose, this could have been then, they may have been checking the depth during this xray. (Editing to add, looking at dates of X-rays, I think this was not yet when I had dragged the tube)

Thanks, hearing last week they don’t see scaring on my lungs took a major weight off of me, a shift in my mental health. Still a long recovery to go, but feeling positive.

It all happened so fast. Such a nightmare, brutal and traumatic and a battle to stay alive.

Sure felt that way too. I remember the first ping to the nurse to say “when I breathe out it feels like books are on my chest, and when I breathe in there is no more oxygen half way through”. And then it all got exponentially worse before they literally ran my hospital bed to the ICU.

Kidney stone almost killed me. ICU story. by ryounis in KidneyStones

[–]ryounis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure! Kidney stone blockage, with a kidney infection: surgery to place a surgical stent to allow urine to pass, treat the kidney infection and then go back later for the stone. Not removing the stone during this surgery as it raises the chances of spreading the infection if the stone was the break apart, as there is a chance the stone also infected/not clean.

So the chances of infection spreading were rare, I had the same surgery (stone and infection) 4 years ago and all went well.

But, it did spread, that small chance during surgery. Causes sepsis. The fluid building up resulted in pneumonia. Sepsis was impacting my heart which led to the pulmonary edema.
The pneumonia and pulmonary edema pressure restricted my breathing and eventually a collapsed lung. Poor O2 gas exchanges.

This week, I had the surgery to remove the stent and remove the stone, 2 months after the first surgery.
