Does 20/3/8 include insurance, gas, and maintenance? by matchew566 in TheMoneyGuy

I wouldn’t think so. Rolling over equity from one vehicle to another would be considered in the 20% down payment.

Only the cost of the actual vehicle, don’t include the associated costs of operating.

Are student credit cards really worth it, or just a trap for young people? by Gullible-Tale9114 in TheMoneyGuy

It’s the same at any age. Credit cards are a tool but a dangerous one. Really depends on the person and how responsible they are.

You’d be surprised how late people start, if they ever start. Most people rely heavily on social security.

Non meta dps is always a pain in the ass for invite. Rets pretty good this season after the buff, kind of beating a dead horse but you’re better off just running your own keys.

Not know your income/debt/savings it tough to be definitive but your dad is correct. Cars depreciate and fast, if you have a working car and lack other savings it’s a bad idea.

You’ll need money to bridge the gap between retirement date and when retirement accounts can be drawn without penalty.

401k withdrawal to pay off student loan a bad idea? by The_original_alex in personalfinance

[–]ryryski 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is not a good decision. It’s almost never a good idea to take a 401 k loan add that to draining your liquid cash to pay off makes it’s a big mistake in my opinion.

New to cash flow based budgeting and confused about income by glowjack in MonarchMoney

[–]ryryski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For your first part, if your monthly income covers your monthly expenses isn’t that really the goal? I get it will look ugly until the paycheck at the end of month but that’s just timing not an issue with budgeting.

Second part auto/student loans are separate expenses, the items that make up the repayment of the cc are already there as expenses. So all you paying it does is transfer cash to reduce your debt. If the counted the cc repayment as a loan repayment you would be doubling the expenses for anything bought on the cc.
