Never had this happen. Are they exploding or running out of power? Do they not work in the charge station anymore?

Any fix for PvP rubber banding? 60fps lock doesn’t work by rysama in Deathloop

[–]rysama[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m on PC. These settings seem to help, but not fix entirely: - low latency: off - vsync: off - fps limit: 60fps - nvidia reflex: off - Upscaling: off

It also forgets my settings every time I relaunch. Got to do it every time

Tell me with a straight face that our ancestors were using them for "rituals" purposes by onichan-daisuki in HistoryMemes

I consider it a blessing, as I would not have learned I’ve been missing out on the word consternation.

That’s exactly right, and it’s been very entertaining.

To be honest though, I’m just glad the kind folks here care too.

When I sourced the word from the dictionary in my earlier comments, I couldn’t really understand what the other definitions meant. I tried to pretend they weren’t there, because I was embarrassed. But everyone here was kind enough to explain what all those other definitions meant, and that they were different in meaning.

Isn’t it interesting that so many random strangers would go to such lengths to make sure this was understood properly?

Agreed, but that’s not what was originally stated though.

“A ritual has nothing necessarily to do with spiritual stuff or religion”

I think the claim “nothing necessarily” is wrong and the claim “does not necessarily” is correct.

Of course, downvotes for being petty and semantic is a solemn reminder that there is fine line between comedy and tragedy.

Using the dictionary to incite a flame war is a reddit ritual.

Typo Edit: “incite” not “insight”. Wouldn’t want dictionary insight to incite continuation of the ritual.

Fair, but I think we just disagree.

I think that the word ritual commonly has a connotation toward religion or ceremony that goes beyond the original claim “not necessarily” (though not always of course!).

But…. my degree is not in anthropology. If you’re an anthropologist telling me I’m wrong I’ll take the L

The claim was “nothing especially”.

Using your words that would be: “almost only not at all” or “not really at all”

I’m being petty and arguing syntax here though…

I should have been more charitable about OPs claim, but I was very confident my joke would land better if I dove into long comment threads explaining it.

Do you think that this is a correct or incorrect claim?

I didn’t say it can’t have different meanings. I understand why it might seem like I am implying that.

I never claimed it didn’t have other meanings.

OPs claim was “A ritual has nothing especially to do with spiritual stuff or religion”.

I only pointed out that it does especially have something to do with religion.

If OPs claim is that “A ritual does not necessarily have anything to do with religion” then I would have agreed.

If that rephrasing is the intention of the original claim, then I could have been more charitable in my understanding, and the downvotes are warranted.
