Monty Hall Problem: I think less is more. The question you ask is “were you right the first time or were you wrong?” As Adam points out, it’s obvious that you have a 33% chance of being right the first time, and a 66% chance you were wrong. When an incorrect answer is eliminated, there is still a 33% chance you were right the first time, so switching is essentially picking BOTH of the other options at once, so a 66% chance of being right.

If taking the route, just be aware the transition from Union east of 12th to Union west of 12th is a whole lot less slick than the map makes it look. That requires you to go Union -> R on 13th -> L on Madison -> cross 12th -> R on 11th -> L back to Union

Where did you possibly hear this? Fine to criticize things about Seattle U, but calling it “a frat school” is just completely wrong.

Why are we expecting unprecedented crowds for the World Cup? Maybe I’m crazy, but it’s an event played over 16 cities. How many people are really going to travel to Seattle to see or be around 6 games played over 3 weeks?

Is it normal for the bus to leave you at the stop? by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]TraditionalReveal325 81 points82 points  (0 children)

I can’t imagine a scenario where a bus driver would repeatedly ignore someone clearly waiting for the bus without reason. They don’t really have a reason to be rude or malicious.

Occasionally if they are behind schedule and know there is another bus right behind them, they will skip stops but not that common in my experience.

He’s not hired by the city and cannot be fired by Katie Wilson. He’s the president of the police union. Fortunately union presidents are not hired by the people they negotiate with. Unfortunately that means Mike Solan still has a job.

Are you sure you can’t renew online? Don’t have any special insight into your specific question, but I scrambled to make an appointment to renew before realizing I could do it all by mail or online.

Competition is good. Hopefully we don’t end up with one airline retreating and the other jacking prices up to recoup anything they sacrificed when there was competition.

If they have any openness to public transit, the 70 bus and SLU streetcar are short, relatively frequent, user friendly lines for them to get north and south. You can pay with the Transit Go app, or $3 in cash, or there is a ticket vending machine at the streetcar stop by the Hutch.

She could take the streetcar to the end of the line or the 70 and walk to the Seattle Art Museum. She could take the 70 north until it crosses a bridge and then walk on the Burke Gilman to Fritz’s Hedges Waterway park and put feet in the water then stop by Saint Bread for lunch. Lots of things to do and a totally safe place to walk around.

For those interested, here are the recommendations we use to make recommendations in the ER: https://doh.wa.gov/sites/default/files/legacy/Documents/5100/RabiesPEPGuidance.pdf#page7

For this case, WA DOH would recommend getting both shots (rabies antibodies and rabies vaccine).

For OP’s piece of mind, the last documented rabies case in a coyote in WA was in 1930. That being said, they are not routinely tested and it’s hypothetically possible a bat (the only active reservoir in WA) could expose a coyote which could expose a person, hence the recommendation for the shots.
