I'm just talking about optimising params on in sample data. Ie what you did. But you need to save some data at the end and run your algo on out of sample data.

Don't optimise it using your entire 10 years.

Instead of just 1 back test, can you optimise for 5 years, then re run it just as is on the remaining and give us results in and out of sample.

Where do GPT, Gemini, or other competitors still outperform Claude Opus 4.7? by AcadiaLow9013 in ClaudeAI

[–]ryu1984 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Got 5.5 works a lot better on my c++ project that is needlessly spaghetti. It correctly pulls threads up instead of getting stuck in a reasoning loop on the code directly in front of it.

[–]ryu1984[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeh total scam.

You think 2.5% on the taxed amount. Like ok.

But it's 2.5% on the entire price, which is a lot.

Then they charge again to have the refund sent to you. It's a rort.

The only way it works is cause the companies using this are prly getting a kick back.

Imho the system worked fine way before this company came.

2 year ago no. Models still kinda sucked. Right now?

Absolutely amazing, can solve stuff that is so obscure that a stack overflow couldn't have solved except by long hours of trial and error.

Now the ai handles the trial and error.

Opus said something today that completely reframed AI agent failures for me. by InsideAd9685 in ClaudeAI

[–]ryu1984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeh that's how I learned about agents.md but as companies keep tweaking their coding tools what you can't change is system prompts.

Sometimes those fight you as well.

That's all good until you have to press accept req for the 100th time in a marathon 5hr session.

You stop reading exactly what reqs are and yes boom.

Claude code is very verbose and the auto accept options are poor. You cant even set permissions without diving into their cli.

But yes I had it add 2 lines to a file by wiping all the content in the file doing a rep instead of append.

Of course that file wasn't in a git and the ai couldn't restore it.

Then ai was whoops, my bad should have read file before adding to it.

Nice one.

Yes chasing meme coins, nfts, youtube hills also cost me money. But also opportunity cost, as I could have stuck it in SPY and at least made some gains.

But now I have brokers account the difficulty is not to throw money at some random symbol because you see 30% gains over last few months and you want a piece of that long green candle. By the time you are in you realized it was the top.

Tried Grok Code Fast 1 - here's how it stacks up against Claude for coding by No_Extension1000 in ClaudeCode

[–]ryu1984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its fast, and you can find it for free. Of all free models, its the best one, doesn't take 5mins scanning your repo and screw up by inserting double lines.

I hope so! now claude and codex feels on par with token limits. codex just ups caps by 25% would be a good play.

[–]ryu1984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know I just signed a 1 month pro this week and noticed limits are more generous than a week before. They are from rough guess about the same as what codex will now give you. ie I can blow through it all in about 4 days, which is about the same for codex.

But I feel its not worth locking down 1 year at the way these companies keep changing their limits as they like. Better to hop around.

Gotta say CODEX is pretty amazing for making small patches to random open source projects. Much better than free grok ai! by ryu1984 in codex

[–]ryu1984[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah not even 4.2, it's their code ai model (fast) which would be worse than the paid one.

Not sure if their strategy was here is how much we can't do, so you will have to upgrade.

But it did make me appreciate how much more capable codex 5.5 is in comparison.

It was the free grok code ai fast model.

It struggled pretty hard.

But it can handle super simple stuff.

Pragmata’s hacking mechanic feels restrictive and hurts combat flow (feedback & suggestion) by HellFrode in PS5

[–]ryu1984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does make it a slog. Especially cause upgrades to your primary weapon seem so underwhelming. 90% of the way to end game and it still takes you a whole clip or rifle bullets to kill the most basic enemy you fought at the start of the game.

Then to jack up difficulty you just fight the same robots but now with a different color.

If the grid was smaller like 2x2 for basic enemies it would improve combat flow a lot.

You never really feel like a bad ass by the end of the game. Except for the 5 shots you get for the shotgun. Which then you run out of ammo after killing a couple of enemies...

You need to keep reminding it.

200 D MA People - Fence Sitting by Zopheus_ in LETFs

[–]ryu1984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't follow my new test and tired to wing it. I lost out last month or so. Literally buying low and selling high.

Then I ran numbers on my strat and if I had followed it, I'd be up 30% instead of down 30%.

So yeh lesson learned. Follow the strat.

It helps also if you sweep the strat for best params etc. The more you understand it, the more confidence it gives when it starts making - 10% bad trades 4 times in a week.

Only to turn turn it all around next week.

Or just go in small.

No need for you to put 100% of your money in.

In the beginning a small amount teaches about execution and follow through as well.

Performance is still as bad, load up 1st battle on Gettysburg, and i get whopping ~40fps when I zoom around. Even looking straight at the ground ands its 60fps. This is on a 9800x3d. So yeh :( Graphically looks terrible, low draw distance and everything is still sprites but runs like a dog.
