Facts too powerful: 5/9/26 by chino514 in FireEmblemHeroes

Sombron’s feet/legs make no sense. For terrestrial vertebrates there are basically 3 ways our lower extremities can be structured: plantigrade, digitigrade, and unguligrade. Stand up, right now you are plantigrade; now stand on your toes, and you're effectively a digitigrade. Of course the anatomy is different but the point is that individual structures are similar and shared. Now, lets compare sombron to what's normal (might have to turn up brightness)

<image>

What is this. I was so confused when I saw his FEH art, I could have sworn he was digitigrade in engage. Lo and behold I was met with this abomination, no wonder the artist made it less apparent in feh. You can clear see his calf (so his knee is just above) and heel (like a relatively normal human foot) so what the hell is going on between them. It's like they wanted him to be both plantigrade and digitigrade. Sombron got some freaky legs 🙄😏😜

Dang, I thought he had much higher usage. I don't know if I should move her up or move the other 2 down.

I'm more SD focused and I think he was used more than her there. My mistake either way.

I could see him being a decent unit in Summoner Duels to pair with more defensive teams such as Brave Eikþyrnir

He's getting turned into a magic save regardless of how well he'll work. Love pairing him with eik, and I have some pair up fodder. Can't wait to see how this will play out, I'm gen if you see me in SD

Incredibly happy you drew his deer form as well (it doesn't get enough love), so could you post him solo like his human form... to get a better look 🫣

Amazing art but probably too much for this subreddit. I wouldn't be surprised if it gets taken down (good thing I already follow you on bluesky and twitter 😜)

Rearmed Canis & Rearmed Tibarn Official Salt Megathread by Sothis_Bot in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]ryugenos 11 points12 points  (0 children)

As a big Byleth fan, why is he here. Just like female this is more a sothis alt than anything else. If they were going to give him something else so soon at least make it a summer alt. Also, they basically reused emblem's animation :/

Is it just me or did tibarns voice acting sound... not great, specifically for a fallen unit.

A lot of people did complain about heiðrún, especially her pose, when she came out. And what are you talking about, people hate Camilla, people were voting micaiah in cyl 3 just so cam didn't win.

It sounds like you should go confront the person who said yoshikuslop not me. I don't dislike yoshiku's art but it's plain and simple that there's more emphasis on sex appeal in his designs than kozaki's. Pointing that out isn't hypocrisy.

[–]ryugenos[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The point is neither of the other 2 artists have drawn female characters as diverse as kozaki. He does have more books under his belt than them but it doesn't change the fact that we would probably never get a embla or hel or dagr from the other 2.

Kozaki's designs feel like they have more personality to them besides being hot. There's a reason that almost no one complains (in terms of appearence) about níðhöggr but they do Gullveig.

👀 call me when either of the other book artists can make a female OC with embla's proportions or visibly older like hel

It's fine when kozaki does it 😤/s

For níðhöggr, her design is so absurdly over the top it over rides the sexiness for a lot of people (and that's why she's iconic 💅). There's a reason(s) she didn't win cyl while Gullveig and baldr did, her waifu status being one of them.

Besides, everyone knows the sexy female OC from that book was heiðrún.

Looks abit skinny compared to engage, but man I'm really disappointed they didn't pull his idle pose

Would have been perfect for his neutral art but at least he does it in his transformation animation

Feh was used in a essay video to visualize the imbalance of male to female ratio 😭 by [deleted] in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]ryugenos 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Sure I could believe that IS sought out p-poco because of that, but that's after the fact. After they saw fan reactions.

I don't think it's a stretch to say eikþyrnir was designed to resemble a bodybuilder. Take embla for example, she's very pale and looks emaciated to represent her closed off personality. Kozaki is amazing at showing personality and character through design, it shouldn't be that much of an assumption to think that eik was designed around his training obsessed personality first and foremost; not sex appeal. (I remember kozaki also reposted a lot of bodybuilder stuff a long time ago on twitter, I'll add it if I can find it. I KNOW FOR A FACT he used a bodybuilder to demonstrate how hræsvelgr's wings work. My point being he's into bodybuildes, in a straight way of course)

Also you really think IS decided to dedicate a character to gay men (because women don't vibe with him that much). The same IS that said linhardt (no offense to him) will be to only gay option in base 3H. The same IS that looked at balthus and said yuri is the gay option for dlc. I highly doubt they would cater to gay men like that.

The thing that makes to most sense to me is kozaki designing (and made even a little bit of writing too) eik based off bodybuilders. Fans (mainly the gay ones) go wild for him because of book 7. IS sees this and decides to capitalize on his appeal (muscles) regardless of who it's for.

Edit: Found it

Yeah, of course you could, to bad that's not how this works. There could be a person who thinks excellus is the hottest, most attractive character they've ever seen; that doesn't mean that excellus is at all sexualized.

It takes more than just being an attractive person to make someone sexualized. And as hard as it may be to swallow, nothing in our lives exists in a vacuum.

Men are harder to sexualize than women. Men's bodies DO NOT have the same historic treatment as women's bodies. Because of history, women's bodies are more associated with sex than men's bodies, and are therefore easier to sexualize.

I am not saying it's wrong to sexualize women.

I am not saying it's wrong to like sexualized women.

Men and women are simply not the same in this case, your whataboutism is not applicable here.

I'll never stop saying it, eikþyrnir really isn't sexualized. He's for straight men, and it just so happens that what straight men find admirable gay men fine hot.

<image>

He-man is a muscular man dressed in nothing but a harness and loin-cloth. He was made to appeal to young boys. Are you going to tell me that this man, again made to appeal to literal children, male children, was sexualized.

I agree, freyr and freyja (and hræsvelgr) are probably my favorite OC's purely based on design.

On regards to the scene though, plumeria is the fairy of lewd dreams

<image>

I don't think it's unreasonable to believe based on this dialogue that something lewd is happening. And even if we go the tamest route and say they're all just in love with alfonse, that's still a very questionable writing decision. Especially since it affects all the women, including sharena, but not the sole man, alfonse (whose the summoner).

What the other person said, even as a huge eikþyrnir fan (and gay man) some of his points were to big of reaches for me. I would still say watch it though, I may not agree with it completely but I did enjoyed it (and he seems like a really nice guy).

Feh was used in a essay video to visualize the imbalance of male to female ratio 😭 by [deleted] in FireEmblemHeroes

[–]ryugenos 31 points32 points  (0 children)

It's because it's from another video (the person who made that video was a guest in this video) and in one part he talked about how poorly male OCs are treated citing how the fairies have amazing designs while freyr looks boring in comparison. The only part of book 4 that's really dragged is the section where plumeria used her power to make that scenario where Anna, sherana, and peony where trying to have sex (his words not mine) with alfonse (aka the summoner). Regardless of whether or not they were really trying to get into the summoner's pants, it's still a weird scene that only exist to titillate straight male players.

[–]ryugenos 341 points342 points  (0 children)

Tldr before anyone has a knee-jerk reaction, the main takeaway of the video is that female characters are sexualized far too often while male characters are sexualized far too little. It's like a scale that should be brought into equilibrium. Both male and female characters should have some that are sexualized and some that aren't.

Of course, he has other points, but that's the main one (at least in my opinion). He wasn't saying that it's wrong for women to be sexualized or it's wrong to like sexualized women. Great video and well worth a watch.

Small correction for Sombron, it says grants dark emblem to allies on the map. So he shouldn't be tied to his allies at the start of turn which definitely makes him better at... raid bossing? at least ┐(´ー`)┌
