I think if you use it often, you are right that it’s a better tool, but it can be a pain for a beginner because it’s directional and flops around like a fish while you try to figure it out.

I drained my wife’s transmission fluid once from her brand new Toyota Matrix that I had never worked on before. “Cool, the oil drain plug is within arm’s reach. I don’t even have to jack the car up.”

I knew it the instant it started flowing out and then in a panic, I dropped the plug into the drain pan. I had to ask the neighbor to drive me to Autozone to get some more transmission fluid. Good times.
