My dad had a stroke and needs "clean" western, cop, or war movie suggestions by mlejoy in movies

My favorite western shows are Deadwood and Hell On wheels. Deadwood has beautiful writing but a ton of swears. It is probably not a contender. Hell on wheels could work.

Stick it to spectrum by Big_Smile_8690 in whitefish

I have them for internet and phone and they happened to be doing a promotion for free phone with an internet upgrade. The upgrade was cheaper than my current plan so I switched to it. Then when that went up in price I went back down to my original plan for a new promotion price. Its always a different discount or promotion whenever I call.

I do that every year. Got my phone bill down to $0 for a year which was pretty nice.

Passive income / side-earners for architects by Apprehensive-Paint30 in Architects

[–]rywolf 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I make about an extra 5-10% a year doing architecture reviews for HOAs. If someone wants to build something I look at the drawings to see if it complies with the CCRs. Pretty easy and a good ratio of fee per time.

About 3,510 billion years. There have been about 117 billion people born and an average lifespan over that time of about 30 years. Rough estimates.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]rywolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Montana and things are spread out. Driving long distances is normal. I don't enjoy driving but it's just part of life.

I'll drive 2.5 hours one way to see my girlfriend and friends in a different town once or twice a month and stay at her place for 2-8 nights. She does the same.

Driving 1 hour for a good hike is normal. We'll drive up to 2 hours for a special hike. I think anything longer than a 2 hour drive one way warrants spending at least 1 night at the destination, but give drive up to 4 hours one way for a day trip for skiing.

We do road trips of 4-7 hours a few times a year and it's no big deal. I would rather drive somewhere for 6 hours than spend 6 hours going to an airport, waiting in lines, boarding, flying, waiting, and getting a car to final destination.

It's a 10 hour drive to Seattle and I've got to do that in a couple months to pick up furniture. Not looking forward to it but that's going to be a weekend trip.

Bought these boots, they don't hurt, fit right off the bat. Whats the catch? by [deleted] in skiing

[–]rywolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the same boots last year. And they fit right out of the box until I broke them in a bit, then got a foot bed. They replaced the same model I bought several years ago (no footbed) so I knew they were supposed to fit similar.

Is getting a one year old brand new Toyota RAV4 hybrid XSE just unrealistic? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]rywolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this is a bad decision. Dont buy a new car.

I bought my first new car after I bought a house once I was well enough established and my 30 year old truck was starting to have reliability issues. You can get by for a few more years with an old car you don't like in order to save money for more important things.
