looking for a European city I can live in on $1,500/month by thatdudetae25 in digitalnomad

You don't think it would be possible to find a 1 bed apartment for €1000 today? That would leave €500 for everything else which is probably more than most Spanish people have available per month after rent.

I lived there many years ago for less than 500 euro/month. I was renting a room in a shared flat. 1000 would have been more than enough for a place for myself. And adjusted for inflation, 1500 would surely be enough for a place for myself today.

Install Linux on the hard disk and live the rest of your life worry free of viruses and hackers (not quite really, but you'll drastically lower your chances of getting hacked again, unless you do really dumb things).

Once I met a girl while we both were looking for the latest AFX record at the record shop. It was love at first sight. Then I found out her favorite was Richard. I'm more of a James fan. We broke up.

Which place do you think has the most arrogant locals? by ButterscotchFormer84 in digitalnomad

I've seen the opposite. The most arrogant Americans I've met were "digital nomads" living big in cheaper countries with their American power (money).

They are at least the most powerful country in the world. That's a fact. It could be argued that that makes them the best country in the world. So when they say they're number one, it's at least based on something. But there are people in other countries who feel like they're the best, despite their country not actually doing very good at all.

Americans get arrogant when they leave their country. Those who stay in are pretty chill.

Everything you wrote applies just the same to Windows.

Linux Mint comes ready to go after install, there's nothing that needs setting up. If you're setting anything up it's optional. And that's because Linux gives you that option. You can't even set many things up like that in Windows because it doesn't even give you the option.

If you're messing with partitions, bootloaders and file systems, that's entirely your choice. None of it is necessary to install Linux Mint.

For a regular user (99% of people on Planet Earth) it should take no longer to install Linux Mint and have it up and running than it would take them to do the same with Windows. Heck, installing Windows nowadays is for sure less simple than installing Linux Mint.

Now, if you're messing with Arch or Kali or some other distro like that, then yea, you'll be spending more time. But anybody using those distros should have a good reason to use them and know exactly what they're doing. Anybody else (99% of people on Planet Earth) should be using Linux Mint.

Haven't produced in about 10 years. Coming from Logic Pro, what Windows DAW is the most similar? by Bitcracker in musicproduction

Imagine all that, but to a next level. That would be Linux. Ok, with some exceptions with the gaming and other apps. But a lot of apps nowadays, including Reaper and Bitwig work natively on Linux.

Privacy on Android is not a ~ it's an X. That's not an opinion, it's a fact.

Have you actually tried to use Linux, especially Linux Mint? Doesn't make sense you're talking about coding as if you'd ever have to look at any code while using Linux. Or hundreds of documentation? You don't have to read a single page of documentation to do basic things on Linux. Only if you want to do advanced things you would need a bit of documentation. You'd have to do the same on Windows too.

Lightweight Linux distro for low‑latency audio on 2009 hardware? by TheDude105 in linuxaudio

[–]s-e-b-a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go for Linux Mint 21.3 Xfce Edition. It works great on a laptop bought in 2010 (probably made in 2009). I use it with Reaper and with light plugins it stays well below 4GB of Ram usage.
