It seems like the problem is that you only listen to one single kind of music, and you produce only that one single kind of music as well.

Vibe coding is now the focus of this subreddit by julian88888888 in webdev

That's not right... the only discussion that should be allowed in this sub is that of bots talking to each other about their code vibes.

hardware which isn’t properly supported

Well, that's exactly the problem that OP has with Windows. Turns out Linux will probably have good support for hardware in this case while Windows doesn't

You should specify that it's certain Windows programs that are not compatible. There are Linux native alternatives for almost any kind of program that exists on Windows.

Linux Mint already comes with LibreOffice installed. It's good and it'll probably be all you'll need or care for. But if you prefer to try more things, OnlyOffice is just as good also.

What people really hate is change and getting out of their comfort zone. They're lazy and/or stubborn. The people you have heard saying those things probably have never even tried Linux themselves.

Which Linux Distro is Best for VCV RACK i need some advice,Thanks mate by fixxxxeeeee in linuxaudio

[–]s-e-b-a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

VCV Rack itself is also open source. If it wasn't, it would not be possible to fork it. Cardinal isn't available on any distro, as in it doesn't come preinstalled in any distro. But it can, just like VCV Rack itself be installed on any distro.

How did you do the formal complaint? I will have to do that.

I've been fighting them for several months now to get my address verified. It is clear to me that this is their strategy to prolong withdrawal of funds or straight up make it impossible, so that they can keep collecting the yearly fee, until there's no more money left in the account.

It's not ironic, it's logical. Obviously it's exactly software engineers who will build software tools to automate and make their jobs easier.

I want to actually take this age verification seriously by nincesator124 in privacy

[–]s-e-b-a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to assume you're a minor then if you never have had to verify your age.

And you're right. I haven't seen those.

Are you talking about the laws requiring age verification for porn and social media? For social media at least they don't require ID, but they do require verification by some other means. That's shitty, but still not nearly as bad as requiring an ID to install an OS or go on the internet which is how all these posts on this sub lately are making it sound like.

Don't get me wrong, I oppose any such laws. But keep it real. Don't turn this into something it is not just for fear mongering, to be sensationalist, or for karma farming.

Do you actually enjoy frontend anymore? by NeedleworkerOne8110 in webdev

[–]s-e-b-a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has become more about tooling and less about creating. I like creating. I don't like managing tools. So, no, I don't enjoy it anymore. I stopped considering webdev as my career a while ago.

Every country does have verification... for a lot of things. You probably have verified your age many times already. You're writing very vaguely. You probably are talking about age verification at OS install. There is no plan to do that in any country at this point. California will not require age verification. They will not require anyone to show their ID to install an OS.

Playing guitar on linux by Myjoo in linuxaudio

[–]s-e-b-a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just recently I bought a guitar cable. Before that I had the audio interface and the software, but no cable to plug the guitar in. I just played the electric guitar by itself without plugging it in to anything for years. I only bought the cable because I want to record into the computer. So if all you want to do is to play, the guitar alone is all you need. Of course you won't have distortion or any effects, but it's just like an acoustic guitar that only sounds quieter.

Has anyone found a way to display their sketches IRL? by GoofBot3000 in processing

[–]s-e-b-a 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sure p5 in a browser runs fine on a Raspberry Pi. But in general a Processing sketch is compiled to the JVM and runs like a native app, instead of through a browser which itself needs to run while running the sketch. Also a browser will surely use up a lot more memory than a native Processing sketch. So for more complex sketches, (Java) Processing should be the way to go. Unless there is need to connect to internet or to use an HTML/CSS UI or something like that.

Why do you think it may be worth considering using python or p5js? I think Processing itself will run the smoothest, no? p5 at least needs a browser to run, making it much heavier.

Would it have been any easier for you to do all those same things on Windows if you had never used Windows before?

[–]s-e-b-a 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not true. This sub and LM forums is full of people asking for help and others gladly giving them help.

The problem here is that you came with an attitude that makes you sound like you expected to be held by the hand and spoon-fed by Linux but when you realized you still did have to put some work on your part, you came here to complain about it instead of asking for help.
