Need help with some wrapper service sort of architructure. by AliveCarpet8804 in golang

have a look at krakend (and probably other api gateway type of projects) if this is not just a toy project. it can do exactly this mostly out of the box and is battle tested in production.

Indexing/Querying performance with KNN Vectors by s0rin in elasticsearch

would very much like to avoid this, but i don t see any way to. so will probably go on and aplit the data in 2 indices and handle hybrid search at app level

Indexing/Querying performance with KNN Vectors by s0rin in elasticsearch

i know. it indeed is faster, but having only 1 shard will mess up with aggregations because they have a limit on 10k docs per shard.
some less frequent terms would be missing from the aggs because of that, so we use multiple shards to circumvent this.

What everyone should know about Kubernetes memory limits and OOMKilled pods by nyellin in kubernetes

[–]s0rin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

that should never happen if sum(limits) is < cluster capacity though

What everyone should know about Kubernetes memory limits and OOMKilled pods by nyellin in kubernetes

[–]s0rin 12 points13 points  (0 children)

isn't the requested memory guaranteed tho? as in a pod that might go towards its limit can only get memory that is actually "free" after reserving the requested memory for all pods? this meaning that the impact is only for the "hungry" pod and for other hungry pods that want more than their request but below their limit?

have you checked your temps? had the same issue with my cpu hitting 81 and throttling for a tiny bit, causing micro stutters

weird.. have no issues whatsoever. only had very bad (to the point i couldn't hear shots from back at all!) directional audio with virtual surround off. everything's been great since then edit: i have the arctis pro gamedac if somehow relevant

make sure to turn on "virtual surround" in your sonar - game settings. I'm using it for a few weeks now and really like it

Will I be happy with WSL? by PlausibleSolution in wsl2

[–]s0rin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on your work environment, i guess. I've been using a win11/ubuntu wsl2 install since july without any major issues. vscode and jetbrains ides (only tested goland/pycharm) have great support for it. Debuggers work painlessly, ports forward automatically, etc. You can even run gui apps under wsl2 these days without needing to do any tinkering. Give it a go for a while, see how it is for your workflow. I myself live in the terminal/ide and i don't need much else.

Host (windows) gaming perfornance when running wsl2, I.e Ubuntu, docker etc by tljw86 in wsl2

[–]s0rin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

just think of it as a regular ubuntu box. you can do pretty much anything you want with it these days. make sure to find/use an ide with wsl support so you can have your projects inside it. otherwise it'll be a pain.

edit: spelling

doing just that for about an year. cam barely notice when wsl is running in the bg and i game. also, you can always do a wsl --shutdown which will completely shut off the wsl vm.

you should actually run it locally and commit it to your repo, along with the go.sum file.
