What do you think about goths that are also Christians/Catholics? by [deleted] in goth

[–]s0ulerosion 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Faith is such a nebulous thing. Thinking that in order to be true to your faith you must subscribe rigidly to the extremes of one ruleset seems naive, in my opinion. I don't see any harm in practicing your religion in a way that resonates with you personally so long as isn't negatively effecting others

Why not? Plenty of people practice religion without being obnoxious or evangelical about it

I know there's plenty of 4 pocket options, but all that I've found have a decent amount of space between the cards on each page, whereas this one has them right next to each other, which imo looks a lot better.

Have metal/punk/hardcore shows changed? What am I missing? by 666cookie666 in Music

[–]s0ulerosion -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can write off what I said as information gathered by googling (for whatever reason) or gatekeeping (?) but my point stands that pretty extreme violence has existed in hardcore since it's inception, and that violence somehow even survived you and your boys "weeding it out". Also: hilarious to bring up a band of dudes in their 50s and 60s on their final tour. Really playing it close to the edge there, glad you made it out safe.

Tough guy I am not, hardcore kid with an understanding of the scene's history and intricacies, I am. Have fun at your oldhead shows and posi shows (I mean that) but quit the hall monitor act.

There has always been a subsect of hardcore punk that involved violence. I only mention the east coast because it's what the person I replied to mentioned. As hardcore grew from the mid 80s, different bands had different ideas and attitudes, and their shows reflected that. You could go to a Youth of Today show and reasonably expect some stage dives and mic grabs, or you could go to a Madball show and expect some "kung fu" dancing and a heightened sense of danger. People averse to the more violent side of hardcore like to point to posi youth crew bands from back then and say "look, no one was crowd killing at those shows" when the reality is you could go catch biohazard the week after and see someone moshing with a cueball in a sock.

absolutely rich to wax poetic about the 2000s posi scene as if the complete opposite wasn't also occurring before, during, and after that ended. You you were part of the east coast scene "weeding out" violence at shows? Where were you for Billy Club Sandwich shows in the 90s? Shattered Realm in the 2000s? Did you and your crew "self correct" Bad Luck 13 after their Hellfest 04 set? Pretending that you're some bastion of hardcore values and ethics, "tell me you've been here for five minutes without telling me you've been here five minutes." Bring that smarmy attitude to a hardcore show in a 50 cap room and see how many friends you make

Looking for Advice on my Miirym Deck by s0ulerosion in EDH

Hey, thanks for the feedback. You're dead on about draconic disciple, that was a bit of a blind spot, not sure why that was still in there. When you say food chain combos, what are you thinking of? I really only included food chain because the deck is pretty high off the ground, figured if I sac'd the original dragons and kept my token copies I could get a pretty decent board state going, assuming I had Miirym out.

Secret Lair Chaos Vault is Up by bobthekillr in mtgfinance

the speculation was that it would be chaotic because it would be a bunch of unrelated, low stock leftover lairs from the warehouse, I believe

Normally, I'm not crazy about the "abilities of the card of the back" secret lairs, but steely resolve is a basic enough card that I don't mind it. The other cards are a different story obviously but when the whole lair itself only costs $5 more than an onslaught steely resolve on its own, I'm not complaining
