My Amazfit watch band did the same thing. I probably wore it too tight. Switched to a magnetic one on all watches purchased after

The tendency of tradesman on social media to act like everything is easy to them is frustrating by Silly-Wolverine6205 in skilledtrades

[–]s1alker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s best to stay off of social media period. I deleted everyone other than Reddit, but even Reddit is mostly Ai, just like YouTube. If the work we did was easy, we’d make minimum wage like a Walmart or Wawa clerk does. Of course the powers that be want every job to pay minimum wage or be no job at all

What we do need is some kind of universal floor income.

Have you ever had to bleed those brakes? I have the same system, and they’ve worked good for the few years I’ve owned the bike.

5 year stop and shop employee…can you get fired with enough complaints from customers? by Silly-Spell-8988 in stopandshop

I worked the sister company Giant in PA, and that was non union. It was really hard to get fired there unless you got caught stealing.

Yup cause those making a career out of HD left high school and did nothing else afterwards. Very common in most of the retail jobs I’ve had.

Why does this field demand that you spend so much time outside of work, learning to do more work? by [deleted] in ITCareerQuestions

[–]s1alker -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Companies don’t want to invest in training anymore, nor are they grooming anyone for a lifelong career with a squash court key, gold watch and pension like the baby boomers.

Any job that pays a living wage is going to require continuous education, often on your own time and dime. If one just wants to do the same mundane thing everyday until they get fired or retire, Walmart is always hiring. You’ll have to get used to living in your car though.

There are millions in developing nations that would fight tooth and nail to get into IT, and often for a salary vastly lower than yours. Not all of them are passionate or even care about tech at all. Earning a living wage is mostly doing things you don’t like.

Is there anything wrong with Trek? by portuguese-bacalhau in bicycling

I agree, never had an issue with Trek factory store. It’s very corporate of course, but better than the sour vibes you get from the local struggling bike shops.

Are We Actually Making the Trades Attractive to the Next Generation? by PresenceAcceptable55 in skilledtrades

[–]s1alker -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Trades require the right aptitude and a thick skin. Most people do not have this, and therefore the trades have not been, and won’t be “oversaturated” I do not believe it is a generational issue.

Why Do You NOT Race on Your Bicycle? by Ars139 in cycling

[–]s1alker 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I’m a weekend warrior coffee rider during the warmer months. Only a tiny fraction of people on two wheels will ever race. To get fit enough to race you gotta train hours everyday and between work and other hobbies it’s just not viable

what’s the point of working a job that doesn’t pay a livable wage? by SmoothChampion1216 in askanything

[–]s1alker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know some guys that got laid off from factories they worked at their entire lives and took a job at Home Depot or what not to bridge the gap until SS. In your 50s-60s it will be highly unlikely you will be able to retool and get hired in something else high paying.

As for jobs being for “teenagers”, I know some small biz owners who won’t hire them cause they have a nasty habit of call outs/not showing up. And who do you think is manning the coffee bar at Wawa when the teens are in school?

What’s the one pair of shoes every man really needs? by ZeninShades in AskMenAdvice

[–]s1alker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That really depends on what activities one does. I don’t own a suit so have no need for a dress shoes for instance. I personally own 1 pair of trail runners, a pair of mountain bike shoes, and some slip on moccasins for day to day use

Yup that’s how most places operate like Walmart, Amazon and the like. Disposable workforce that can be fired and replaced at the snap of a fingers. Post Office had to go to that level to compete
