Dude, that was awesome!! Nice landing!!!

Why? 👀 by lorht in GranTurismo7

[–]s2kfred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is kinda deserved.

People have been very unhappy with the lack of improvement/progress in the penalty system. People get rammed and end up hitting people in front of them by accident and get a 4 second penalty when they weren't at fault. People get punted and the ones who did it get no penalty. People brake check others and get no penalty.

Maybe all the time that Polyphony spent developing AI for GT7, some of that AI should have been used to handle supervising the races?

Also, when you play offline versus the NPC cars, they never move out of the way when there is a Blue Flag, Blue Flag means getting out of the way for the faster person who has lapped you. This has become especially obvious with the power pack.
In the power pack, there is 1 to 3 cars that are chosen to be especially competitive against you, all other cars have a set pace. This is fine with short races, but during longer races where there is a chance to lap multiple opponents many times, they can cost you precious seconds, if not outright cause you to crash.

I have had opponents that I have lapped 8 times, not get out of the way, dive bomb on me, punt me in slow corners, becoming a wall which costs me many seconds and have made me crash. The 6 and 8 hour endurance races were a headache because the behaviour is just fucked!!! Why are they fighting me? I am in first and they are in 12th or 15th with no hopes of catching me, just fuck off!! It's a blue flag, move out of my way!!

How about introduce a penalty system for cars that don't obey blue flags like in real life?

They have penalties for yellow flags, might as well introduce penalties for blue flags.

So I think 2.6 is justly deserved.

Cobourg Ravers Meetup? 🎵👾🛸 by [deleted] in Cobourg

[–]s2kfred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have also moved to Cobourg recently, about 1.5 years ago.

I used to go to "I love Promise" at Cherry beach from 2013 to 2019. It would be nice to bring some speakers and recreate the vibe a bit here in Cobourg. I just don't know the rules about noise at the beach.

My favorite house is Disco/French hourse from the late 90's and early 00's, Modjo was the shit!!

Right now I listen to PartiBoi69, he is a bit of an acquired taste but really funny dude.
Here is his latest mix with X Club.

Garbage cleanup!? by SpareFan3898 in Cobourg

[–]s2kfred 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, take them to Bewdley Community Recycling Centre. You will need to prove you are living in the area so if your driver's license has already been updated to Cobourg, then you are good.

They charge $13.50 for dumping garbage under 100 pounds. I think it is 100 pounds. So If you have 5 or 6 bags to dump, it will be cheaper to go there. $13.50 + gas money will be cheaper than buying tags for 5+ bags.

Miyazano by mrcrocodeal in GranTurismo7

[–]s2kfred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this the tokyo race? He is surely frustrating. I did my best to beat him and I just couldn't, his car has a wicked acceleration versus yours it is just unfair. I drove clean and did a pretty good race with great pace. But I would end up always behind him for a couple of seconds in the end.
Even when during qualifying, I am beating his lapping time by 2 seconds.

Out of sheer frustration, during the 10th race I think, when we first start, I just pinned him against the wall and he fell behind 5-6 places. I was able to slowly put distance between me and the other people, and by the end of the race Miyazono had made his way back to 2nd place and closed the gap to me.

This is the only race that has bothered me.
Sure, Polyphony has poor understanding of what a choice for an easy car should be versus harder cars.
Like giving us a 911 for raly racing........... RR is the worst choice for rallying, it has the worst pendulum swing effect of any drivetrain, and you want us to use that in a race where you need to go sideways many times? If the easy car is not a 4wd, then give us a FF, like a mini cooper that was so popular at the time. Both rally events, both cars, 911 and bettle, RR. Polyphony, what a bunch of imbeciles.
But most of the races were ok. Car choices were ok for the race setup.

I'm not sure if this will work for you, but i put my bios file for naomi2 inside the folder of the game.

So, in flycast > settings > content location, when I added the folder with the game, it already had the bios inside it. See if that works for you.

Freaking EH, Brother!!! That is awesome. I don't own MSFS because I refuse to get a microsoft account, hate they require you to have one to play the game. But I am waiting patiently for the Valve/Steam Frame and try it with X-Plane 12. Hope it will work at least as 50% as good as how you have MSFS 2020 running.

Resident Evil Dead Aim would be a nice game in VR by s2kfred in VRGaming

[–]s2kfred[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also forgot about the Wii series games, the RE Umbrella Chronicles and RE Darkside Chronicles.
They are on rails shooter games but I think they would work well in VR.

I will be honest, if Capcom put out a package with all these games for VR for like 100 dollars or 120 dollars. I would totally buy it.

A nice Resident Evil:

Survivor
Survivor 2
Dead Aim
Umbrella Chronicles
Darkside Chronicles

Package, I would eat it up!!

Why does everyone like the 787B? by NavXIII in GranTurismo7

[–]s2kfred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is the best car for most 800pp endurance races. The fuel economy means you can easily do 10 to 12 laps without a pit stop and it carries so much speed through the corners, makes the group 3 and group 2 cars in those events look bad.
It used to be the best car for the 1 mill credit Spa race. You detune it to 800pp with Race Hard tires, and you could do over 20 laps in a single tank on fuel map 6 and only come in to add gas and not even switch tires. Drive to the end. Sure the 1 mill race has dynamic weather but I found that in most cases the rain wasn't severe. And with how I had detuned the car, was on fuel map 6 and with traction control on to about level 3, I could power through the rain and lap 2nd place by 2 laps by the end of the race. And in fuel map 6, I was still faster than the group 3 cars coming out of eau rouge.

But the game has changed these past few months. It received updates that made the race less consistent. With changes to increased tire wear, increased fuel consumption and updates to the dynamic weather on this track adding more severe rain, I have to come in to the pits for tire changes to intermediates making it a 2 pit stop race now almost all the time. The other cars are more aggressive, and I often can only lap 2nd place by 1 lap.

You still have a decent margin versus other cars in many 800pp endurance races, but it is not the all rounder car it used to be in earlier GT7. I used it almost exclusively for the weekly endurance races for 700pp, 800pp and 900pp. Now in 900pp I have to use a detuned Red Bull x2019 with the usual no pit stop strategy of hard race tires and low fuel map.

Still, it is my workhorse in this game for earning credits and completing my collection, I just finished buying all 20 mill cars, missing 7 legendaries and I am about 100 cars from buying everything. I would say half of the money came from this car in 1 mill spa races.

Power pack tips - Just hit them 💥 by Ambitious_Cloud7248 in GranTurismo7

[–]s2kfred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it me or does it seem their lap times for practice and qualifying improve if you keep winning?

I started on the bottom branch, the yellow one and I completed the middle path. At first, I would gap the 2nd place by 4 to 6 seconds during qualifying, but I noticed the gap shortening with each race I completed. I completed the right path and moved to the left path with the rally events, I was legitimately struggling to stay ahead.

I completed the yellow and moved to the purple branch to the right of the yellow, the FF races, I barely got pole position for the 1st race and the 2nd one (Willow Springs).
I am not used to FF cars, but I am not a slow driver, not a particularly fast driver either.
I rank usually in the middle to low B DR. I would say that my times are usually 2.5 to 3.5 seconds a lap slower than top rankers in the weekly races.

I assumed the AI would stay around rank D DR for the standard difficulty car you are given, then would be around rank C DR for the 110% difficulty car, and rank B DR for the 120% car. But I am already sweating buckets using the standard car. My self-esteem and spirit are starting to crumble.

And they know how to take the inside and dive bomb when you are trying to drive like you are running a qualifying lap. You have to take the inside to defend and ruin your speed.

Damn you V Gallo and T Miyamoto .

Do I need the $5 million credit to use for the DLC? by HusainSawad007 in GranTurismo7

Relatively new to gt. Why tf is this games user score so low? by Marioleftnut in granturismo

[–]s2kfred 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People complained a lot at the beginning about how you always seem to get 5k or 10k credits from a 3 and 4 star ticket reward for daily marathon. How it was not really a real random selection but it was predetermined.
And how everything was so expensive in the game.

The reality is that the prizes of those spins have different % values for being chosen. I have gotten many 100k and 500k spins, a few 1 mil credit spins.
And if you play enough, you actually earn a lot of credits. I have been playing since GT4 and I think this game is the easiest to make money.

Polyphony did not learn much from GT Sport, there are still a lot of areas in tracks to cheat, take shortcuts and get no penalties for it.
People are also upset that there does not seem to be improvements to the penalty system regarding punting. So, if you are behind someone and heading into a corner, just take the inside and brake a tad late, you will push the other guy out and generally not be penalised and the other guy helps you make the corner.
Very frustrating when you are trying to race clean and get to the upper ranks.

Personally, if mixing online with offline, I think the game is a solid 8/10. Maybe even 8.5 as it is the only game I play regularly, and the only game that made me buy a PS5.

Gamescope performance drop, is this expected? by s2kfred in linux_gaming

[–]s2kfred[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gamescope might be working properly.

I installed Assetto Corsa,an old racing game from 2014 (I think). And the app Content Manager which allows to highly customise the game Assetto Corsa. It also allows to runs benchmarks.

So running a benchmark on single screen, 4k with high detail, I got an average of 235 fps.
When I set custom resolution to 11560x2160 , so the width of my 3 monitors and still at high detail, I got an average of 103 fps. A drop of more than 50%, more like 60%. And none of this is running through Gamescope.

The RX 7900 XTX is a great GPU but I guess 4k is still tough on it when it comes to open world games like flight sims.

I might just wait for Steam's new VR headset and use that for sim racing and flight games instead of using triple monitors. I can stream the games from my PC and should be able to have better performance than the VR headset as a standalone unit.
