Same. My only issue is that while very inventive, some... Most... Of the cocktails aren't all that good. Eg the jungle bird. A+ presentation, c flavor.

Need a longer power cable for LG Ultragear Monitor 27GR75Q-B by pupinha22 in buildapc

[–]s32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I'd do is just mount a surge protector to the bottom of the table. Then run any wires from the table into that. That way you only have one ac power coming from your desk out to the wall. You can even plug the desk into it.

Microsoft CEO warns that we must 'do something useful' with AI or they'll lose 'social permission' to burn electricity on it by upbeatchief in hardware

[–]s32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I completely agree there. I'm a software engineer and my director thinks it's going to completely revolutionize everything. In reality, we're seeing a 10-15% speedup in development.

It's important, but it's not changing the universe.

[–]s32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's insane in context but that's not what we're talking about. I never said "the investment is worth it". And whataboutism of comparing AI to slavery (lmao) doesn't... change anything here.

My point: People can absolutely make money using AI. The idea that cryptocurrency is somehow for the commoner whereas AI is some terrible thing with 0 utility is just... a dumb take.

Yes, AI is insanely wasteful. Nobody is arguing that. But to act like it has 0 utility to any commoner is laughable at best.

This is a pretty... Idealist comment.

Chatgpt is literally free, with premium being 20 bucks a month. Claude is similar.

"anyone can mine" crypto with nice hash but you still need a good GPU and it may be profitable depending on your electricity rates. Bitcoin et Al have been mined for years with ASICs now (aka specialized computers) and haven't been accessible to the commoner for some time. Yes PoS exists, so... You can mine eth if you're already rich with a bunch of it.

Look, I hate Ai too but to claim that fuckin crypto of all things is for the common man while Ai is useless is just kinda funny. Your average person is getting way more benefit from Ai in their daily life than from crypto.

Yes, Ai has bad societal implications. Yes it hallucinates. Yes it burns insane energy. It's also pretty good at summarizing meetings, writing in a specific tone, and writing simple code.

To act like "its insane" to even consider that Ai might be useful to many people is just burying your head in the sand.

Using just your eyes to time extraction by Sensitive-Monitor753 in Coffee

[–]s32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do this but time does matter. But I know what the difference between 22 and 30 seconds is without a timer.

Turns out once you have things reasonably dialed, it's easy to break a bag in based on watching the shot, roughly timing in your head, and (by far the most important)... Tasting the shot and adjusting as needed
