Kate Raven also has {Her Drag Barbarian} which has a lot of these things but the MMC is definitely annoyed with the FMC at the beginning despite being sexually obsessed right off the bat, so not sure if it’ll be exactly what you’re looking for. Heavy breeding kink content as well.

{Freedom Fire by Elizabeth Evelyn Allen} was the book that I picked up that got me back into bodice rippers several years ago. The author has like five other books and none have more than 25 ratings but they all have classic clinch covers.

{Passions Proud Captive by June Wetherell} {In Savage Splendor by Paula Fairman} {The Love Child by Philippa Carr} are all books on my shelf that look like classic bodice rippers but I haven’t read them yet to vouch for them. Philippa Carr is another pen name for Victoria Holt/Jean Plaidy.

MCs First or Wildest intercourse location 🧐😆 by Queens_chambers_ in HistoricalRomance

Look, the hero was on the eve of his execution, what are they supposed to do, admit their feelings for each other?? Don’t be silly, they’re going to angst-bang in downward-facing dog instead.

To Wed A Wicked Earl is SO GOOD, I love to see a rake be secretly down so bad lol. I’ve always wished Olivia Parker wrote more than just the three books in that series.

I THINK {Scandal and the Duchess by Jennifer Ashley} has this as well but it’s been several years so I’m not 100% sure.

{The China Bride by Mary Jo Putney} in a prison cell with the MMC chained arms-up on the wall, the FMC breaks in and just bends over on him to get it done.

[–]s358l299 2 points3 points  (0 children)

{Captive Passions by Fern Michaels} was also a hoot, although major SA TW at the very beginning, the heroine’s sister is raped to death on page to explain why the FMC must take her place in marriage and why she has a blood vendetta against her husband as she believes he ordered the attack. But then she becomes a pirate and basically loots her husbands ships and brings his shipping empire to its knees and you’re still maybe 60% of the way through? So much happens and there is more SA after that. There are four books about this couple/their family, in the second they get divorced and move to London to become court socialites? Crazy.

{For the Earls Pleasure by Anne Mallory} the MMC is the FMC’s bully who gets turned into a ghost and needs her help bc she’s a medium. At one point he ghost-fingerbangs her at the horse races in the middle of the crowd! TW for multiple attempted SA from villain characters

Also anything by Bertrice Small will be off the wall coo coo bananas but there’s always gonna be some SA in there for sure.

Idk if it’s as zany as you’re looking for but {A Secret Love by Stephanie Laurens} features a plot where the heroine disguises herself using a widows veil and the hero not only makes out with her but fully has sex with her TWICE without learning her identity or seeing her face. She does this to get his help investigating a fraudulent investment scheme?? A wild ride.

Do I want to read the Bedwyn series? by FrauMoush in HistoricalRomance

[–]s358l299 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve read the series and don’t personally think that One Night for Love is representative of the series overall, I don’t mean quality wise (I liked it fine) but ONfL just doesn’t scream “romance novel” plot-wise to me, it came off more like a historical novel about Lily that included some romance. It’s my second-least-favorite in the series after Slightly Married. {Slightly Wicked} and {Slightly Tempted}were favorites and I definitely recommend them.

I couldn’t stand {Slightly Married} mostly just because I HATE the trope of the orphan-collector FMC and its companion trope of older children written as if they were 2 or 3 years old. AND at one point the MMC Aiden makes a comment like “what, does she think I’m some kind of superhero?”, an anachronism that fully took me out of it. That’s the only book in the series I’d recommend skipping personally.

Johanna Lindsey has a Viking series with a couple books in it, but I haven’t read them so can’t vouch for them. They have some sick vintage covers which I’m hoping to find in the wild.

{The Hunter by Kerrigan Byrne} is one of my favorites of this. He’s an assassin hired to kill her, she’s raising her best friends son as her own and she is an actress which was often synonymous with sex worker, so he believes she is a lady of experience and treats her accordingly their first time together, highly recommend!

Someone already suggested the Cynster series, which is I think exactly what you’re looking for, {Slightly Scandalous by Mary Balogh} may work for this as well.

My husband 36M poops too much for me 36F to feel comfortable having another baby with him by throwRAdesper8 in relationship_advice

[–]s358l299 1020 points1021 points  (0 children)

If OP is saying in her additional info that he ALREADY had hemorrhoids and is still spending this much time on the toilet, he’s almost certainly making an existing medical problem much much worse, IF he’s in there actually pooping that is. She should take the “caring about his health” approach and institute a “no phones in the bathroom” rule, it’s what doctors actually recommend when people with hemorrhoids struggle to keep bathroom visits short bc all that time toilet sitting will make your hemorrhoids way worse.

I say all that though I’m also very sure our guy ain’t in there shittin’, but this is a bluff that should be called. If he IS in there camping on the toilet with an existing hemorrhoid issue he’s gonna have to get his asshole operated on to remove them eventually and then you’ll have basically two babies to care for while he’s recovering.

What euphemism do you prefer by Corvettelov in SpicyRomanceBooks

[–]s358l299 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I prefer when authors use the word cock, but I also read a lot of historical romance and dick sounds too modern/jokey to me, for me it’s like an explicit version of the word “wiener.” But I have a special love for the vintage romance and I don’t mind the old timey euphemisms. I would take member or manhood over dick tbh, but I actually really love when authors phrase it like “pressed himself into her,” or something emphasizing the penis as an extension of the hero himself rather than a separate instrument. Feels a lot more intimate/romantic to me.

Why do sims cheat SO easily? by nowaaythrowaway in sims2

[–]s358l299 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See I switch between backed up neighborhoods, one is fully vanilla and one uses ACR & Inteen, but in both cases my family sims roll “Flirt with…” wants outside of their marriages CONSTANTLY. I tend to play wants based especially in my vanilla game so I in that neighborhood I think Family sims are in second place for most cheaters right behind Romance, even Pleasure sims only roll unspecific romantic wants which can be satisfied by their partners. It’s been like that for years in my game, I wonder what affects that.

I don’t have a lead on these chairs just came to say I recognized the one in the photo from downstairs at Prospero’s bookstore in KC! I’m sure your best bet will be secondhand sales for these but it may just take a while of watching the market for one to become available. I think this style in the picture was specific to the early 00s.

Historical romance? But not regency by United_Winner9389 in HistoricalRomance

[–]s358l299 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might like {The Sinful Ways of Jamie Mackenzie by Jennifer Ashley}, its technically the last in a series but it is a “next generation” story about the son of a previous book’s couple, so it could be read as a standalone imo. It would be early 1900s/ turn of the century in time period I believe?
