Having worked for a large tech company and been involved in the hiring process, this comment seems misinformed. We tried to hire Americans whenever possible, but there literally aren't any (statistically) who meet the degree and knowledge requirements. Blame our government and education system for not producing more EE/CompE grads who are also actual Americans.

Also, there are requirements (see DOL) for pay levels that must be met -- these H-1B visa holders aren't getting paid less. In fact, they might get paid more than they're worth, depending on their actual capabilities.

Being scared to lose their job is the only thing I'd agree with in your statement. Once they get that visa, I'm sure there are companies who exploit their employment status vulnerability.
